Liaison Episode 2 Recap

The new episode picks up from where the previous one left off; Gabriel and Alison briefly meet, but he vanishes right before Albert appears. She apologises to Albert for lashing out at him about accepting the job. Soon after, the scene shifts to French officials meeting with the President about the Syrian hackers.

Didier reveals that he found the precise location of Salim and Wahid. Upon inquiring, he shared that he had recruited an agent outside DGSE for the mission. The agent works under the private security firm owned by Alain Duman, a retired DGSE agent. They further discuss if it will cause a strain in the diplomatic relations between Britain and France.

Gabriel meets with Alison again and urges her to reveal Walid’s location, but she refuses to do so. A daunting train collision occurs a few minutes later, and Alison finds out that Albert’s daughter, Kim, is also in it. Fortunately, Kim survives the accident and is immediately taken to the hospital. Gabriel appears in the hospital again, where Salim was admitted in. He enters Salim’s room for his fingerprint, and Alison follows him there. The two share a passionate kiss in the room until they have to depart when Salim’s condition suddenly becomes critical, and he dies.

The British Government decides to seek help from the European Union for help which causes conflicts within the office. On the other hand, Didier finds out about the agreement and decides to take matters into his own hands. He meets with an old friend whom he asks to prevent Britain from signing the agreement.

Meanwhile, British officials conclude that the culprit of the train collision is Gabriel. Albert offers his help, and the officers are given the order to arrest the agent on sight. Alison meets with Gabriel and asks him, and he reveals that he was not behind the attack. He shows her the USB key that he acquired from Salim, which contains the elaborate attack plans, and only Wahid has the access to it.

Liaison Episode 2 Review

Considerable development is seen in the new episode. Different relationship dynamics are explored throughout. A closer look at Alison’s personal and professional life is shown, and a staggering difference can be noticed. She is open and more relaxed in the office setting; on the other hand, she walks around eggshells in her house. However, the relationship between her and Albert’s daughter improves after the accident. An indirect conflict between her current partner and her past lover leaves her confused and agitated.

Gabriel’s character is much more relaxed and calculated. His calming persona matches perfectly with a secret agent, making it believable. It will be interesting to witness how Gabriel and Alison’s relationship develops further.

The usual scheming and planning continue on both sides; however, the true intentions behind the actions have not been revealed yet. The plot is quite predictable to a point and follows an approach with a similar storyline. Nevertheless, there is ample amount of room for the story to evolve.
