The Fragrant Flower Blooms with Dignity Episode 10 Recap
The episode starts with a group study outing at a diner, where Rintaro meets up with his friends from Chidori and Kikyo to eat and study together. During this session, Rintaro shows personal growth by putting in effort to study independently, reducing his reliance on Waguri. The meetup is filled with small, meaningful moments, where Subaru displays a newfound sociability, asking Saku for help with her studies, which hints at a budding closeness between them.
It also includes some light comedy, as Saku’s excellent academic skills do not translate well into teaching. The study session proves successful, with both Usami and Rintaro passing their exams. With summer break beginning, Rintaro’s group spots Waguri’s group from afar, solidifying his evident infatuation with her—he can’t take his eyes off her. Usami notices Rintaro’s longing and confronts him about his feelings, leading Rintaro to break down and openly admit his emotions.

Later, the friends go bowling, and Rintaro finds himself emotionally overwhelmed again when his feelings are noticed. During this outing, he has a heartfelt conversation with Yorita, who patiently answers all his questions about dating, despite having no personal experience himself.
The Fragrant Flower Blooms with Dignity Episode 11 Review

Rintaro is in deep trouble because he does not know what to gift to Waguri, as her birthday is approaching soon. He wishes to convey his gratitude towards her for understanding his real self and not dismissing him like others, which is why he wants her gift to be special. However, he does not know what she will actually like, and he becomes very worried about this. Finally, he realises that Waguri has always loved the cakes from his shop, so he decides a birthday cake will be the best option.
So instead of getting a cake from somewhere else or buying it from his own shop, Rintaro decides to make a cake on his own. As he does not know how to bake, he asks his father, who is a very talented patissier, to help him out. The whole process completely tires out Rintaro, and he remains exhausted throughout his class. In this whole scenario, Subaru really helps Rintaro out by giving him information about her. She just wants her friend to remain happy and wholeheartedly supports Rintaro and Waguri.

Within only two weeks, Rintaro manages to bake a really good-looking cake with lots of textures. His father even compliments him, and that gives Rintaro genuine happiness, something that we have very rarely seen him express. Finally, on the day of Waguri’s birthday, Rintaro gives her the cake, and she becomes ecstatic while receiving it. What goes on in between them is something that you must find out after watching the episode yourself.
Verdict

Today’s episode was again simple, and it was sweet in its simplistic way. This anime showcases a very slow growth that proves that the central couple have feelings for each other. I’m liking the progression and the character arcs, but it is also true that this is a very average anime.
