The Studio Review
The chaos of a movie set might be one of the most interesting and infuriating things one can watch, depending on how you see it, and The Studio, starring a chaotic Seth Rogen, brings forth a hair-tearing experience that viewers will find amusing. The series follows Matt Remick, a man who is in love with cinema and the filmmaking process, who gets the highly sought-after job of the head of Continental Studios and starts to butt heads with the other suits in the most hilarious way possible.
The series will leave you in stitches thanks to the hijinks that Matt finds himself in, from making Martin Scorsese cry and then getting thrown out of a party by Charlize Theron, to being a complete devil in Sarah Polley’s set, it’s just a whirlwind and then some. But, it’s the chaos that makes us watch this hilarious series as well as Mark’s passion for cinema that shines through in every scene. Facing ridiculous requests and having to make difficult decisions, the series perfectly captures the soul-crushing work that this is, especially when this is more than just a money-making venture for the person.

The Studio runs along at break-neck speeds, excellently handling the myriad issues thrown at Matt and those that he throws back and not giving us a minute of respite. Once the episode starts, it’s constantly moving without giving you a chance to breathe. It works out well for the series and makes it even more exciting to watch. The go-go-go attitude adds to the chaos of the situations that are presented in each episode, making us laugh and leaving us breathless, but ready for more, by the end of it.

Of course, the fantastic and chaotic performances help. Everyone is constantly screaming, but it makes sense in the context of it all. The frustration of not being able to do what they want and making a bunch of execs happy cannot be a simple or enjoyable situation to be in and having to choose between money and passion comes out of these characters in the most kooky way possible. It’s hilariously unhinged and Seth Rogen, especially, is both maddening and sweet in every scene.
Final Thoughts

The Studio brings forth the issues within the entertainment industry and why it’s failing in the most chaotic and hilarious way possible. It’s an anxiety-filled ride that makes you laugh and want to make you tear your hair out, but somehow also makes you empathetic to Matt’s struggles and dreams. In a war between making money and following your passion, who wins? I guess you will have to watch it to figure it out!
