After debuting through the K-pop music reality survival show Girls Planet 999 in 2021, Kep1er members are ready to make their latest comeback with their fifth mini album, and teasing its anticipated arrival is the Galileo MV teaser releasing on September 21, 2023 (KST). The highlight medley, other pre-released previews and concept photos for the same have already hinted at another attractive music record coming ahead.
Galileo is expected to be a disco-funk song that deeply illustrates the feelings of a girl in love. It has been composed by Yejun Synee, Josh Fountain, Lauren Aquilina, Marcus Andersson, HERO and deeno. Aquilina’s songwriting credits were also extended to other K-pop songs in the past, like CLC’s Devil, Taemin’s Criminal, MONSTA X’s Beautiful Liar and IVE’s Eleven.
The group last released its fourth EP titled Lovestruck! in April 2023, and now, within a matter of a few months the girls are coming back to serve the best of their hits again. Hikaru, Yeseo, Dayeon, Xiaoting, Chaehyun, Yujin, Huening Bahiyyih, Youngeun, and Mashiro released their new Magic Hour album’s highlight medley yesterday, further unveiling the track-list comprising a total of 5 songs – Galileo, The Door, Love on Lock, Tropical Light, and TAPE. The video so released on YouTube marks that its just the first teaser, implying that the second one will be released tomorrow, as also stated in the promotion scheduler for the upcoming Kep1er comeback.
Managed by Swing Entertainment and WakeOne (the same label as ZEROBASEONE), the girl group’s name is a reference to the exoplanets in the Kepler star systems (named after the astronomer Johannes Kepler). And now interestingly, their upcoming album’s lead single Galileo also harks back to the name of the Italian astronomer, aka the Father of Astronomy.

As far as Kepler’s connection to the latter is concerned, he was one of the very few supporters of Galileo’s discovery of the Copernican system, as per which it was proved that planets orbit the Sun instead of the Earth (as theorised by the Geocentric model of the universe). (Safe to say that astronomy enthusiasts must definitely have a thing for this girl group)
