Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid Season 2 Episode 7- Overview

Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid Season 2 Episode 7 Title

Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid Season 2 is produced by Kyoto Animation as part of the Summer Anime 2021 Lineup. The series acts as the direct sequel to its 2017 original. It is being directed by Tatsuya Ishihara, who is also well known for directing various other Kyoto Animation anime such as Air and Clannad. Season 1 director Yasuhiro Takemoto also shares billing for the director after his untimely death due to the Kyoto Animation arson tragedy.

Episode 7 picks up right where episode 6 left off, with the series takes a more narrative-driven approach than the first season’s mostly standalone episodes. All the usual suspects are also back, including a new character named Ilulu. The series is also known as Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid S and Kobayashi-san Chi no Maid Dragon S Episode 7.

Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid Season 2 Episode 7 Review- Plot and Characters

Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid Season 2 Episode 7 Fafnir

The melancholy of the night is a fascinating one. The sombre nature, the silence and the loneliness are very enticing to some people while scary to others. The night carries its magic and puts a special flavour to anything that happens during certain hours. Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid Season 2 Episode 7 explores that concept with much aplomb and in a serene manner.

Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid has always been more than just a simple slice of life comedy. It has always delivered truth bombs and realisations in some manners, and it is quite emotional at times. That factor carried quite well in Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid Season 2 Episode 7, with the natures of Tohru and the dragons’ integration with the human world being explored in quite a subtle manner. That was only a small part of the episode, though.

Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid Season 2 Episode 7 Kanna and Friends

The rest of the episode featured Fafnir and Lucoa making their way to Comiket. Fafnir, you guessed it, wants to sell his actual cursed knowledge to normal people. Lucoa is just there to help him, and I hate her character less when she isn’t torturing Shouta. In fact, I quite enjoyed when she was being torn into pieces for Fafnir’s entertainment and would love to see her being rag-dolled in such a manner again.

The third segment featured Kanna and friends goofing around in their school, which was adorable at times. The show shines when it lets its characters just be themselves, which the creators are trying to do by separating Kobayashi and Tohru from them for the time being, and it is working. I love most of these characters, and I love that they are all getting some attention in the show. We are just about ready for the next major arc, though.

Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid Season 2 Episode 7 Review: Art and Music

The music, or lack of it in some scenes of Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid Season 2 Episode 7, really elevated them. The Kobayashi and Tohru segment was enhanced by the show’s original soundtrack and was very pleasing to the year. That segment was also easily the best animated in the episode, so it seems like the showrunners are still paying special attention to Tohru scenes.

I am in love with the ending theme of Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid Season 2, and it is so catchy that it is playing in my head as I’m writing this. The opening is decidedly worse than the Season 1 opening, but that’s not really a fair comparison. The Season 1 opening was one for the ages, and it is really hard to follow openings that are masterpieces. Just ask Death Note.

Verdict

Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid Season 2 Episode 7 didn’t do anything special, but it didn’t need to. It was a perfectly lovely episode of Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid, and there wasn’t much wrong with it. Even Lucoa couldn’t ruin this episode; that’s how good it was.
