First Lady Episode 4 Recap
The episode opens with why Ji-yoo was fighting at school in the first place, and the situation gets down to the student’s mother wanting a resolution for it. As things work against Su-yeon, Cha Jung-yeon arrives to help the situation de-escalate, but for a price – he asks her to accept the divorce in exchange for keeping this affair private. Clearly, he’s working for Min-cheol.
Either way, Su-yeon asks Ji-yoo to go abroad to study, and although she throws a fit around every turn, she eventually has to relent. Meanwhile, as Min-cheol meets Representative Bae, her aide talks to Hae-rin and tells her that it was Park Chan-do, the man Su-yeon apparently hired, who gave them the information about the wiretapping. In a rather weird twist, Min-cheol eventually proposes a political marriage to Young-sun to form a coalition government to get his special act passed and finally investigate the H Chemical fire incident or the Do Tae-hoon Act.

That night, in a shock to both Min-cheol and Su-yeon, Ji-yoo’s video goes viral. He immediately gets defensive, now that his daughter has come under fire and agrees to set up a press conference. But, before that, he questions whether Hae-rin is involved in the situation in any way. When she declines, he asks her to do whatever it takes to stop Jung-yeon, but strongly reiterates that he has the ultimate say in the matter and to not make any decision on her own. Eventually, the women meet Jung-yeon, who accepts responsibility for sharing the video and promises to send Ji-yoo abroad if she signs the papers.

Eventually, with no other options, Su-yeon agrees to sign the divorce papers. Sitting in front of Min-cheol, Su-yeon thinks back to the time when he was just a congressman and she had supported him and turned him into the politician that he is today. However, now, she promises to destroy him just as she did with Jung-yeon and his father and tears up the divorce papers. She further calls him disgusting for colluding with Jung-yeon and going against their daughter, and although he calls it a misunderstanding, Su-yeon promises to protect Ji-yoo no matter what.
First Lady Episode 4 Review

I think the only person who doesn’t annoy the heck out of me in First Lady is Su-yeon, whose resolve in the face of disgusting politics and her husband’s spinelessness is what I am living for. Eugene, again, is fantastic and a force to reckon with. I am truly waiting for her villain era that will wipe the smug grin from Hae-rin’s face. The series is yet to tell us a lot of things, and I feel like Kang-myung’s parentage is going to be an interesting discussion here. Either way, I am here for the melodrama and can’t wait to see the dirt that is dug up from here!
