Wind Breaker Episode 1 Review and Recap – Meet The Bofurin
The way the first episode fared, I’m sure this show will not disappoint the audience and will become a good show. It is definitely what Bucchigiri?! wanted to be but couldn’t, as Wind Breaker handled the delinquent theme in their first episode far better than Bucchigiri?! could with their whole season.
The episode starts with our hero dreaming about walking on a rope from which he can fall at any moment. Not only that, but he is also facing harsh criticisms about his fights and his unique appearance. You can tell from here that Sakura is someone who has been heavily misjudged by society and shunned by them. Such a thing has depressed him or traumatised him to the point that he even has nightmares about it.
But as a tsundere, he can’t help but deny how this has affected him so much. He even goes as far as claiming that fighting is the only thing that can liberate him, and he doesn’t need anyone’s approval, as being at the top is what matters to him.
However, you do understand how good at heart he is when he saves an unknown girl from being harassed by some thugs. She is a resident of the new town where Sakura has recently moved to. This town is also anything but normal, as fights and gang wars are a common thing here. On top of that, it is also near one of the most violent schools, where most delinquents and hooligans attend.
It is because of this reason, that Sakura has moved to this place. But what surprised him was how the townspeople did not give the usual kind of treatment when they saw him fight. Thus, his life changes for the better, along with his perception towards society, when he gets entangled with Bofurin, the guardian of the town.
The one thing that impressed me the moment I watched this anime is how good the animation looks. The studio Cloverworks has done an exceptional job and made a beautiful-looking anime with very clean fight sequences. The background music, along with the opening and ending themes, are also very fitting with the genre of the show.

Verdict
Out of all the Spring 2024 shows released so far, this one seems to be the best at the moment. It has just the right amount of build-up and intrigue to hold your attention. Plus, the first episode’s ending leaves you craving for more.
Sakura is also not a one-dimensional character as he has his own problems and he is trying his best to fight his demons. I also get the feeling that the supporting characters will be very likeable, and we are up for a great experience.
