The Golden Spoon Ending Explained
The Golden Spoon episode 16 brings major twists and turns to the show and its characters in the finale and also an end to a fantasy drama that was no less than a game of brains. The episode brings a deadly trap to Seung-cheon while making the other users of the spoon pay the price for what they have done.

Towards, the end of the show we see Seung-cheon packing up his bags to leave the Hwang house after his release from the charges. However, a maid in the house has prepared a poison-doused juice for him which is brought for him while he is in the middle of packing.

The scene then shifts to Young-sin entering his room only to find blood everywhere and a dead “Tae-yong” which alerts the others in the house and Ju-hee who is waiting outside. Ju-hee rushes in to see a stretcher being carried out with a body that is covered.
The following scene is a time skip that takes us 3 years in the future when Tae-yong makes it big with his Webtoon The Golden Spoon and is giving an interview in the presence of his fans and Ju-hee. As he speaks about the book, Sun-hye and Seung-ha are watching the interview in their new apartment when they are joined by the latter’s husband who is none other than Mun-ki.

After the interview, Ju-hee and Tae-yong go for a meal where they discuss Hyeon-do’s release which makes them think of this world as an unfair place. Tae-yong asks why Seung-cheon was the only one punished, and so brutally that he had to lose his life while Hyeon-do and Yeo-jin live so peacefully.
Ju-hee tells him that they too will have to pay the price someday while she watched the news of Hyeon-do being released broadcast everywhere. Elsewhere, Yeo-jin is living a peaceful life with her father, her husband Park Jang-gu and her newborn daughter while her- Jeong Nara’s father- Jeong Yun-su is seen working at their house.

However, what she doesn’t know is that Yun-su is being harassed by his debtors which makes him decide to kidnap her daughter for a ransom. We do not know the end of this incident but it surely doesn’t look like it will be a good one.

On the other hand, Hyeon-do may have been released from prison but he is also being fed the paralytic that he used to kill “Tae-yong” by Young-sin who wants him to suffer. She then reveals to him that Jun-tae was her child with Gwon Yohan which shocks him as he realises that Jun-tae was his son.
This leaves him in a state of shock as he miserably whimpers but is unable to say a word. Thus, justice has been done to both these characters who used the spoon for their greed.

In the following days, Ju-hee is given the assignment to interview a gardener who also teaches kids how to invest in stocks which is a good story to cover. Her search for the gardener Han Seong-hun takes her to a nearby beach where she sees Seong-hun who is none other than Seung-cheon.
It is then revealed that before Seung-cheon could drink the juice served to him, the gardener at the house ate his third meal with a golden spoon which made him the new Hwang Tae-yong. Seung-cheon received his memories and left the house while dumbfounded and carrying his golden spoon that he had earlier put in his pocket.
However, this brought the gardener to his death which became the news of the murder of Hwang Tae-yong.

Back in the present, Seung-cheon and Ju-hee stand in front of each other at the beach while are unable to recognise each other. However, Ju-hee gets a familiar feeling from his words which makes her think of Seung-cheon.

Will there be The Golden Spoon Season 2?
The Golden Spoon came to a proper yet not-so-satisfying ending because there are way too many questions that have been left unanswered. These questions have deprived us of a fulfilling ending and have us asking for more because we all want some answers.
Starting with the most crucial questions- did Seung-cheon really lose his memories? Towards the end we see Seung-cheon leaving the Hwang house with his newfound memories that he has received from the gardener. However, we also see him leave with his spoon while stating that he is hungry as soon as he leaves.

However, if he has really lost his memories then is this his real punishment? This brings us to the question of why he is punished more brutally and twice as many times than the other users of the spoon.
Next, we come to Yeo-jin who definitely has this love-hate relationship with her real father which is why she wants him punished and yet she has him working at her house. So is the kidnapping of her daughter really because she is punished or is this because of her own stupidity?
What happens to the Dosin group now that the pillars are all gone and Young-sin certainly doesn’t look like someone who gives the CEO vibes? This also makes me think about how the company would have been able to survive the shock it would have gotten from the whole scandal because nothing seems to have been changed at the Hwang house.
Lastly, who is the mysterious granny really? Her identity has been one of the biggest secrets of this show and I would really like it if she is given a label of who she really is.

Altogether, there are many more questions that have been left unanswered so the possibility of The Golden Spoon season 2 is quite high, but that is only if the creators decide to bring a sequel to the show.
