Idol I Episode 5 Recap

The accident takes place, and Se-na hurts her hand in the process. Thankfully, her injuries are not that bad because she got shielded by Ra-ik, who, at the last moment, did not even think about himself. While at the hospital, Se-na recalls her past and even dreams about her father, but then quickly wakes up to find Ra-ik beside her. Se-na believes that this entire accident was a setup, and someone deliberately wanted them to get hurt. Thus, she tells Chung-jae to investigate the whole situation properly and let her know if he finds anything amiss.

She also escapes with Ra-ik after some journalists come to the hospital in search of them. On the other hand, Byung-gyun is getting scolded because of how he is handling the case. He also does not want to lose in front of Se-na and decides not to just pursue Ra-ik but also Jae-hee to search for the truth. Later, a romantic moment happens between Ra-ik and Se-na when they reach her house. Because Se-na also hurt her leg, Ra-ik carries her in a bridal style and takes her home, while she complained about his help.

From here on, through small interactions, it becomes clear that Ra-ik is actually falling for Se-na. He does not realise it himself, but there are moments and instances where he keeps looking at her and becomes mesmerised by her. Se-na obviously tries to ignore those signs and just focuses on her work. They also talk about important and personal things as Se-na becomes the only person to actually listen to his worries and give proper advice to him. Needless to say, Ra-ik also becomes charmed by her natural disposition and her trust towards him.

But that is not all. Byung-gyun questions Jae-hee and gets to know something interesting. Jae-hee claims that he has evidence that Ra-ik is the one who killed their bandmate. This leads to a joint investigation on Ra-ik and Jae-hee. After this, both Se-na and Ra-ik go to meet Young-bin to confront him as to why he lied about Jae-hee being at the hospital.

Then we see how Jae-hee had always hated Ra-ik because of how he got sidelined after their debut. He thought that Ra-ik was taking his spotlight and continuously blamed him for his downfall. Ra-ik’s rabid fans also did not help the case and constantly cyberbullied Jae-hee into hating Ra-ik.

This, plus Ra-ik’s antisocial behaviour with others, only added fuel to the fire. Ra-ik realises how he was also the person to blame for all the people hating him to a certain extent, and showcases his vulnerability to Se-na. However, again, Se-na instils positive thoughts within Ra-ik, and the episode ends with the surprising arrival of an unexpected guest.

As usual, the episode was shot beautifully, and it showed some really good cinematography. The camera angles are really captivating and creative, making the characters appear more personal. The mystery is not close to being solved, but the twists are interesting to witness.
