She-Hulk Attorney at Law Episode 9 Review: Unusual Happy Ending, We Didn’t Expect But Maybe Needed

She-Hulk Attorney at Law Episode 9 is titled ‘Whose Show is This?’ and has a runtime of about 32 minutes. The episode is directed by Kat Coiro and the teleplay is written by Jessica Gao. The synopsis of the episode reads, “Jen finds herself in trouble with the law and struggles to pick up the pieces of her life.”

In the previous episode, we see that Jen Walters takes on a new case, representing Eugene Patilio/Leapfrog, who wishes to sue Jacobson for giving him a faulty super suit. Jacobson is represented by Matt Murdock in court and wins the case due to Patilio inadvertently revealing that he disobeyed Jacobson’s instructions for using the suit by using jet fuel.

Afterwards, Patilio contacts Walters asking for help against an unknown assailant. Walters arrives and battles the assailant, who she discovers to be Murdock as his superhero persona Daredevil. Murdock reveals to Walters that Patilio kidnapped Jacobson, and the two work together to rescue the designer and in the process, an intimate connection forms between them.

The next day, Walters attends the Southern California Law Awards gala, where she accepts a Female Lawyer of the Year award (with several others), but the gala is interrupted by an Intelligencia broadcast which smears Walters’ reputation by displaying footage of her in bed with Josh Miller.

For the first time, Jen lets her rage boil over and she smashes the screen behind her. Alarms start going off as people rush to the exit to evacuate. In the chaos, Jen spots a group of men with their faces covered, clearly Intelligencia. She goes racing after them, grabbing one of the stragglers. Nikki yells at her to stop, as agents from Damage Control move in, with their weapons pointed at her.

The latest episode starts off with a retro-style educative video of none other than She-Hulk and the threat that she presumes. But it was just a dream. However, her reality is actually a nightmare because she’s now in a Damage Control prison. Nikki, Pug, and Mallory calmly approach her, explaining that none of them has been able to contact Bruce.

The only thing she can do is put up a plea deal to get out, but it also comes with a condition, an inhibitor is put on Jen and she is not allowed to turn into She-Hulk. She’s released from the Damage Control facility only to be let go from GLK&H, as well. Watching things move so quickly, I didn’t think that the series will take this route, and expected the classic superhero-style fight and destruction & dealing with consequences later.

But things are very different for this Super lead and you will realise it very soon by the halftime of the episode. Popularly everyone must have expected Bruce to come back and help Jen, maybe even Daredevil, so that we can see them being cute together. And believe me, we will get all this but in a very different manner.

Final Thoughts: She-Hulk Attorney at Law Episode 9

The finale episode of the series kind of brings all the characters that were part of the show together, but not how they are introduced in a very high-tension climax typically. Rather in an unusual way, telling you exactly who runs the show. As the title of the episode suggests, this episode is about Jen taking charge of her life, powers, show and story.

Online many people were speculating that Marvel Studios president, Kevin Feige is going to make a cameo in the show and to give a spoiler, he does but not in the way we would have expected. If you really wanna know who runs the majestic Marvel studios, then better familiarise yourself with K.E.V.I.N.

Overall, it was a happy ending for everyone, including Bruce, as we get to know what exactly he has been up to while he was on Sakaar. The lead of the show once again reinstated that it is a lawyer show and she is the main character of the story, and shouldn’t expect other characters to steal the spotlight.

She-Hulk Attorney at Law is streaming on Disney+ Hotstar.
