It’s quite a line-up of movies releasing in January 2023 week 2! From comedy specials coming out on Netflix, to a few Indian theatrical releases, this week has its own share of drama, comedy, thriller, romance, horror and action planned out for the audiences. The Hatchet Weilding Hitchhiker
Remember the instant fame-worthy hitchhiking “Kai”? His climb to fame, followed by his plummet to imprisonment is all captured in the upcoming Netflix documentary.
Andrew Santino: Cheeseburger
Taking a bite off the sundry topics on his plate, Santino jumps from global warming to politics, sex and a lot more in his new Netflix Stand-up special.
JANUARY 11
Noise
Titled Ruido in Mexican, this Netflix film puts the focus on a mother troubled by the disappearance of her daughter. The old woman finds warmth elsewhere when she joins a support group consisting of people with similar stories, walking through tormenting realities of their own. Directed by Natalia Beristain, the emotional project stars Julieta Egurolla, Teresa Ruiz, Kenya Cuevas and others.
Thunivu
The Indian Tamil-language action thriller starring Ajith Kumar, Manju Warrier and others has been directed by H. Vinoth, and produced by Boney Kapoor. Following a trail of heists, the movie will make you question if there’s a hidden pattern underneath it all.

JANUARY 13
Dog Gone
Starring Rob Lowe, Johnny Berchtold, Kimberley Williams-Paisley and others, Dog Gone, releasing on Netflix has been directed by Stephen Herek. The light-hearted family flick is based on true events and is all about a young man setting out on an adventure with his parents in search of his missing dog, Gonker i.e. his “best friend” in dire need of medication.
Disconnect: The Wedding Planner
A wedding planner falls prey to a scam. With the stakes raised against him, he must do whatever it takes to plan out an extravagant destination wedding to keep one of his biggest contracts yet in tact. Starring Catherine Kamau, Pascal Tokodi, Brenda Wairimu, and others, the Netflix rom-com has been directed by Tosh Gitonga.
Kuttey
Just like a pack of dogs out on the hunt for the same bone, this black comedy caper promises the coming together of illustrious names from the Hindi cinema industry like Tabu, Arjun Kapoor, Shardul Bharadwaj, Konkona Sen, Radhika Madan, Naseeruddin Shah and more. With its story being held by the debutante director Aasmaan Bhardwaj, the movie will put into motion the chaos of gangs crossing each other’s paths, all ready to pounce upon the same prize.
A Man Called Otto
With Marc Forster steering the direction, A Man Called Otto stars Tom Hanks, Mariana Treviño, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Rachel Keller and others. Crotchety Otto Anderson’s life is turned upside down as a young family moves next door. Forming an unlikely friendship with the sharp-witted pregnant woman, Marisol, he initiates a new chapter in his life. Based on the best-selling novel A Man Called Ove, the movie will however release in India in February.
Lakadbaggha
Arjun Bakshi is the animal loving vigilante living next door who uncovers an illegal trade cell at the Kolkata port preying upon the same co-inhabitants he so dearly loves. This discovery leads him to cross paths with an unlikely ally, the extremely rare of species of Indian Striped Hyena, also known as Lakadbaggha. The action-packed extraordinary project stars Anshuman Jha, Ridhi Dogra, Paresh Pahuja and others, and has been directed by Victor Mukherjee.
M3GAN (Indian Release)
Having already been released elsewhere, Gerard Johnstone’s horror sci-fi game changer is releasing in Indian theatres on January 13, 2023. The titular doll-like invention is actually an engineered result of A.I. Designed by the roboticist, Gemma, this doll has been programmed to be the greatest boon to parents for raising their children. However, Gemma’s decision of entrusting the care of her 8-year-old niece to M3GAN may have unprecedented consequences.
Plane
Gerard Butler and Mike Colter team up in this survival thriller directed by Jean-Francois Richet. Pilot Brodie Torrance does the impossible by landing the plane on a war-ridden island after its struck by lightning. However, little does he know that the worst is yet to come. Soon rebels hijack the situation, taking many passengers as their hostage. Louis Gaspare, an alleged murderer being transported by the FBI becomes his only unlikely support to make it out of there.
