Love is Blind Live Reunion Review: A Colossal, Biased Mess

Love is Blind Live Reunion Review: Love is Blind is a reality dating TV series hosted by Nick and Vanessa Lachey. Love is Blind season 4 has 10 episodes, each with a runtime of around 50 minutes. The Love is Blind reunion, which was supposed to be a live event previously, has a runtime of 96 minutes.

Love is Blind season 4 has had some of the wildest interactions between cast members and the most toxic relationships that we have seen on the show yet. It’s just a mess of several people whom you never thought would end up together, but they do, and the ‘live’ reunion not being able to go up live is just another layer to the mess.

While the world was (deservedly) busy laughing at Netflix’s misery, it is good to wonder how messy all of this would have been had it been live. That being said, the reunion is just equally messy.

Love is Blind Live Reunion Recap

It is 2023 – we are unable to successfully push a live episode and still continue to make cringy jokes about other people’s reproductive decisions. Discussing with each and every person, including Irina but excluding Jackie and Josh, was probably the tea that we wanted, but the way the cast members went about was everything wrong with this show.

The Love is Blind season 4 reunion starts off well and rather cutely with Brett and Tiffany. We don’t spend too much time with them because when you talk about tea, there’s not much tea there, and Brett and Tiffany feel like the only adult relationship in this season.

We move on to the love triangles, and the actual mess starts after the initial dose of positivity. However, I would say that Kwame and Chelsea’s relationship discussion and his feelings for Micah were done and dusted fairly quickly, more so because Chelsea was very clear about where her relationship stands with her husband.

As we get progressively worse with the messiness, we come to Irina-Zack-Bliss’s love triangle. Although rushed, I felt Zack and Bliss’s relationship was absolutely adorable, and that’s very much because of Bliss. She’s a wonderful character to have on-screen and is a very positive presence. However, Irina’s excuses for treating Zack poorly take up quite a bit of the runtime.

We then move on to Paul and Micah, and that’s a whole other can of worms. Zack is the MVP in this reunion as he comes out for his friend with receipts against Micah. I would say, however, she seemed more grounded in the reunion, and I (strangely) agree with Vanessa that Micah looked like she wanted answers. But, then again, I think there’s more to this story, especially with Micah asking Paul to take the decision at the altar than we are made privy to.

The most interesting conversation was, however, with the Jackie-Marshall-Josh triangle. Vanessa had a Zoom conversation with Jackie and Josh, and it’s so interesting that Vanessa is just so biased in this conversation. With everything that we have seen on the show this season, Vanessa, as a host, doesn’t ask Jackie anything interesting or question her about her rather bad treatment of Marshall. Sure, the latter definitely had some hand in them breaking up, but it was difficult to watch Jackie’s blatant disrespect.

In that context, Vanessa seemed like Jackie’s best friend, but I should also mention that I at least didn’t feel like she was attacking Marshall in any way – she asked questions for him to answer, and I also didn’t get the vibe that she was trying to push him down in any way.

Anyway, the last section consists of videos of the married couples’ home lives after the show is done, which is followed by Vanessa demanding the Love is Blind babies.

Love is Blind Live Reunion Review

At the end of a disastrous ‘live’ reunion, I think the Lacheys should really take a break from hosting Love is Blind, especially the reunions. I personally think that they don’t really ask the right questions or address all of the correct things. They should also have taken questions from the audience as well, it would’ve really made a difference, considering the people were already present.

Also, the most cringy part of the reunion this season is Bartisse coming on the show for the sole purpose of asking people when they will have kids. I feel like that has got nothing to do with anything that happened on the show, and also, some people might not want a baby or are medically unable to have a baby. Putting pressure like that and putting people on the spot, and asking them personal questions like this is embarrassing.

Vanessa embarrassingly keeps on rambling about how she wants a fourth child, and, if I am not wrong, she said something similar on The Ultimatum reunion as well. It’s just cringy at best and absolutely insulting at worst to watch. I am sure it is also triggering for many and an absolutely unnecessary discussion to have with people on TV. Also, let’s just not even talk about Bartisse’s child and the insanity behind that sudden appearance.

So, let’s talk about the tea on the show. I personally feel like the way Irina and Jackie were dealt with on the reunion showcased the biases of the hosts, especially Vanessa. Irina’s line of questioning was on point but felt a little hostile, and, as hosts, they are expected to be neutral and simply steer the conversation on the right path. On the other hand, Jackie’s segment seemed extremely unfair, and no questions were asked of her regarding her treatment of Marshall.

And in spite of mentioning that she would be coming to the show with receipts and whatnot, we see nothing of the sort. At least Irina was present at the reunion to keep the conversation flowing.

All in all, I think the reunion was a giant mess, as expected, but was also quite disappointing. We didn’t get the answers that we had hoped for and were just left with cringy moments of people screaming about having kids. Like, what the heck?

Love is Blind season 4 reunion is streaming on Netflix.
