His Dark Materials: Will HBO Max’s Fantasy Series Return For a Fourth Season?

His Dark Materials Season 4 is something fans are screaming for. Lyra and Will’s journey cannot be over, can it? That bittersweet ending is not all that we deserve, right? Well, the makers sure have left us guessing with the ending title card leaving us bewildered with anticipation.

His Dark Materials is based on the trilogy of novels of the same name by Philip Pullman and is produced by Bad Wolf and New Line Productions, for BBC One and HBO. Lorne Balfe is the show composer with Jack Thorne as the writer. The cast features Dafne Keen as Lyra Belacqua, Ruth Wilson as Marisa Coulter, Will Keen as Father Hugh MacPhail, Gary Lewis as Thorold, James McAvoy as Lord Asriel Belacqua, Ruta Gedmintas as Serafina Pekkala, Amir Wilson as Will Parry, Jade Anouka as Ruta Skadi, Simone Kirby as Dr Mary Malone and Andrew Scott as Colonel John Parry/Stanislaus Grumman.

With a total of eight episodes, the third season of the show came to an end. The runtime of each episode ranges from 50-60 minutes.

Will We Get to See His Dark Materials Season 4?

As much as we would love to believe that there is going to be another season of the show, it was long revealed that His Dark Materials will end with a third and final season. However, the thought of His Dark Materials Season 4 just did not pop into our heads on its own. At the end of the third season, we see a title card that tells us that Lyra and Pan are going to have more adventures in the future. So is this a hint? We would like to think so!

It is possible that His Dark Materials Season 4 will not be a reality but, does that mean that we cannot have a spin-off where we follow Lyra in her adult life alongside Pan? The simple answer is there is a good possibility of that. However, makers have not released a word on the same and, at this point, we can only hope for Lyra Silvertongue and her world to return to our lives.
