Grosse Pointe Garden Society Episode 4 Recap
The episode starts in the future, with Alice and Doug getting ready for a fancy party. As Alice asks Doug to get ready, we see him going out on a run wearing the green shoes that the victim will eventually wear. So is the murdered victim Doug? Without answering the question, we jump to present day, and Alice is decompressing with Brett and talking about her marriage. The next morning, the police show up at the garden where Bloomfield Hills has stolen an architectural design for an upcoming competition and although no one really cares about it, Birdie has a knowing look on her face.
That night, Doug tells Alice that they are getting evicted and the two of them have a difficult discussion when Doug mentions that they should get divorced because they want difficult things. Six months later, it seems like Doug and Alice are still together and they get a a letter in the mail that has him flabbergasted. Back to the present day, Brett and Doug get into a tiff over Alice while Catherine finds it difficult to face the gaggle of gossiping women about her affair with Gary. As she gets “fired” from Parents Association, Birdie exacts revenge on Bloomfield Hills which brings her close Joel. Elsewhere, Brett distances himself from Alice, especially after she tells him that they could never date.
Meanwhile, Alice goes to meet her mother-in-law, who gives her hope for her marriage and assures her that Doug wants her and not the cushy life. Six months later, Alice is unable to find Doug and when he turns up again, hammered, he asks her why she is leaving him which takes her by surprise. Back to the present, Birdie contemplates confronting Ford for breaking into the garden society while Catherine deals with the fallout of her affair and how it affected her children. However, she doesn’t go down without a fight and she eventually comes out on top. Meanwhile, Alice and Doug make up after she takes a step and sells his art of her.
Six months later, Alice and Doug fight over the job that she got in New York that she apparently didn’t apply to and Brett agrees to have applied on her behalf. Alice is irate but is taken aback when Brett asks her whether she is happy giving up her dream. Doug asks her to choose and it seems like Alice is having a hard time coming to a conclusion. In the present, Birdie tells the group what she has done and they all get rid of the evidence signifying that they have her back.
That night, Gary’s wife comes over and delivers the news to Catherine that Gary is missing, while we see 6 months later the police asking Brett about Doug and we see the two of them fighting, leading to Brett possibly killing Doug.
Grosse Pointe Garden Society Episode 4 Review
To think that I was expecting this to be deeper than it turned out to be is an understatement. Grosse Pointe Garden Society episode 4 has finally told us what is happening with the garden society girlies (and, one guy) and I must say, I am a little disappointed. Although I do love watching the family drama combining with the murder mystery, I would have preffered if the murder would’ve had a bit more to it rather than just being a crime of passion. Either way, I am looking forward to seeing Alice’s reaction in all this, but more so hoping for a different dead body under the prized garden of our protagonists.
