First Lady Episode 5 Recap

After the events of the last episode, Min-cheol is left worried about where his personal and professional lives are headed, now that it’s clear that Su-yeon is ready for revenge. As things progress, Myeong-ju arrives at Min-cheol’s place, hoping to style someone and is shocked to see Hwa-jin there, while Su-yeon can’t help but think about Ji-yoo’s stolen necklace.

Of course, all that is secondary as it becomes clear that Su-yeon wasn’t kidding around – she has a vault full of dirt on other people, and it seems like she’s ready to use the tape on Yoo Jin-myeong. Just then, Myeong-ju reports to her about Hwa-jin being Min-cheol’s special guest. And if things couldn’t get worse for Min-cheol, he learns about Hae-rin’s deal with Jung-yeon that she had made without his approval. Now he has an angry family and his daughter’s future on the line, all thanks to a reckless secretary.

His plans with Yeong-sun, too, fall through, and she informs him that the person who divided the party’s previously unanimous decision was Su-yeon. She has so much power that she has shifted everything in Min-cheol’s life in one night, leaving Min-cheol absolutely shocked. Hyun-gyo advises him to go to court with the divorce proceedings, promising to push his bill through if the divorce is finalised. Min-cheol realises that he was the person through whom Su-yeon changed the party line, and Hyun-gyo promises to do whatever it takes to restore order in exchange for pushing Yeong-sun out.

The next day, he has a chat with Hae-rin, who tells him absolutely unhinged things that she’s ready to do to see the Special Act passed. Min-cheol tries to reason with her at first, but soon realises that she’s beyond saving, and fires her on the spot. However, before she can leave, they are all directed to watch Su-yeon’s press conference, taken by her lawyer, who confirms that their initial conversations surrounding the divorce have failed. Hae-rin tries to give further instructions to destroy Su-yeon, but Min-cheol asks her to leave.
