Task Episode 5 Recap

The episode opens with Robbie trying to find Ray at his house and finding out that the FBI has arrested him, and the text that was sent to Cliff was probably sent by the Feds. In a rather odd twist, Shelley proposes to move Robbie’s drugs and make an exit plan as a result. Meanwhile, Tom and his team meet with a possible witness who claims to have seen Sam with an adult.

Elsewhere, Perry arrives at Maeve’s place as she gets ready to bid Sam goodbye in a tense face-off. Spooked, she rushes to get Harper and Wyatt out of the house as they try to protect Sam while Tom gets confirmation that Maeve was with Sam after he went missing. Meanwhile, a frantic Robbie learns that Jayson might have killed Cliff.

Incensed, Robbie rushes out to get revenge, while Perry visits Eryn when he realises that she’s double-crossing them. It results in Eryn dying at his hands, although, in the aftermath, it seems like that wasn’t his motive. Later, a war brews on the horizon as Freddy calls Jayson when Robbie arrives at his place to sell his drugs, and Anthony meets Jayson, proving that he’s the mole in Tom’s team. As Robbie’s involvement becomes clear to them, Anthony rushes to meet Tom, while the latter runs into Robbie at their home.

As Robbie asks him to drive them out at gunpoint, he tells him about Billy’s murder and the informant who set everything up and had Cliff killed. The two have some deep conversations with each other, including about Susan, while Maeve brings Sam to the FBI, tired of running around with this huge secret.

With everything coming to a head, the FBI runs out to find Tom while he fears for his life at Robbie’s hands. In the end, though, he does the honourable thing and lets him go, telling him that Maeve had nothing to do with this. With that, he asks Tom to walk through the woods as he makes a run for it, and Tom eventually walks into a picnic spot to let everyone know that he’s safe.

With Tom now back with his team, they start to track Robbie and track him at Bill’s old place while Jayson and his crew also arrive there. In the tense last few minutes, Robbie and the FBI get into a confrontation while Jayson and his gang circle the area as well.

As Task starts to come to an end, things get more intense as loyalties are tested and people are backstabbed. The series takes an excellent pace as Tom uncovers the truth and more bodies fall to the ground. I found episode 5 to be absolutely arresting as every character realises that the end is near for them all.

Will Tom catch Robbie alive? Will Jayson and Perry be arrested? We have to wait if we want to get the answers to some of these important questions!
