Grosse Pointe Garden Society Episode 8 Recap
The episode starts with everyone waking up to see frost covering the garden and their beautiful garden. As they rush to save the garden and keep it from Marilyn, the society erupts in full-on chaos. Back at home, Catherine is shocked to find that her mother is visiting. Meanwhile, Misty confronts Birdie about her affair with Joel, and although she tries to refuse it, Misty makes her choose between Joel and Ford. She threatens to tell Ford if Birdie doesn’t choose, leaving her shocked.
Elsewhere, Brett and Connor have a drink together and seem to be getting along great. Meanwhile, Patty tries to buy one of Doug’s paintings, but Alice “outbids” her for it. The two of them get into a lukewarm discussion surrounding Alice’s credit card debt, but she doubles down and refuses to give up control of her autonomy. Meanwhile, Catherine and her mother butt heads as the latter moves things around her house. She gets even more annoyed when Tucker and the kids enjoy the breakfast made by her mother, feeling like she is being replaced.
Meanwhile, Birdie decides to choose Ford instead of Tucker by clearly being the adult and bringing another man when Joel was supposed to visit. Of course, it’s all a performance, and after Joel leaves, she breaks down. Later on, Catherine opens up about her problems with her mother to the others during gardening, and Birdie tells her to get ahead of her problem before it’s too late. They also advise Alice to tell Doug the truth instead of deceiving him at her own expense, but she decides to put it off until later.
Meanwhile, Brett learns from Steve that he has been laundering money for him, and Connor knew about it the whole time. Unfortunately, he’s now too deep in it. Elsewhere, Patty and Alice get into a cold war during dinner as they fight for Doug’s attention. In the end, Doug’s father has had enough and tells him everything, leaving him to lash out and then leave. That night, however, they do end up making up about it, and he tells her that he got a job. Catherine and her mother, meanwhile, get into a fight, and she asks her to leave. Meanwhile, Brett lashes out at Connor for setting him up.
The next day, Birdie is overjoyed to learn of Ford’s proficiency at baseball while Catherine goes out to apologise for her behaviour to her mother and finds out that her father left her mother. Brett, meanwhile, meets the partner at Connor’s law firm and gives him everything he knows about him, which results in him getting fired three months later. That night, Ford figures out that Birdie is her birth mother, which takes her by surprise. Birdie refuses to tell him the truth, but it’s clear that Ford knows what’s going on. The next morning, Connor and Melissa talk about Brett’s behaviour and his defensiveness leaves her to question her husband.
Three months later, Connor meets Brett at his job before the gala. He confronts him about losing his job before the scene cuts off.
Grosse Pointe Garden Society Episode 8 Review
I think I am ready to know who the victim is at this point. The series has made its point by introducing multiple victims, and we are no closer to learning who it is. Which, in itself, isn’t the worst part, but with the drama and the coyness surrounding it, it is getting a bit boring because nothing of note is happening. With two more episodes to go, the series needs to pick up pace at this point. Hopefully, the next episode gives us something. On the other hand, the drama is on point and will leave you engrossed and a little frustrated because people really don’t talk to each other in this show for some reason.
