Grosse Pointe Garden Society Episode 5 Recap

The episode starts with Catherine and Tucker getting ready to be intimate but Catherine lets it slip that Gary might be dead. Although Tucker thinks that he’s probably laying low somewhere, Gary really is kidnapped and is being taken, half-naked, in the back of a van. In the end, they drop him off again only in his underwear but now with a black eye. Elsewhere, Ford notices Joel and Birdie getting close on dinner and looks rather unhappy with the developments.

Of course, this creates a rift between him and Birdie while Brett also acts cold with Alice. Catherine finds Gary back at work but is shocked to see the bruises and a missing tooth. He asks her to stay away from him and to not tell Tucker anything. In the future, the four talk about who will take the body out and Catherine elects herself with the task because it’s her fault. Of course, they run out of gas on the way and have to do that before they can get rid of the body. In the present day, Catherine is left confused about Gary’s state but Tucker’s reaction adds a humorous touch to a troubling situation.

That night, the girls get together to watch the match and help Alice in her loneliness but a burnt food item results in Catherine discovering a camera in the smoke detector that Tucker installed a few days ago, leaving her agitated and shocked. The next day, she brings it up with Tucker and the two have a heartfelt conversation about the cheating and Tucker’s feelings surrounding it. Later on, Catherine takes advantage of the cameras for some sexy times with her husband. Meanwhile, Alice and Brett have the most awkward time with their respective dates at a bar after they suddenly run into each other.

Six months later, Catherine realises that she has no money for gas and rummages through the dead body to get something, stumbling into a half-empty bottle of pills that she decides to trade for the gas. In the aftermath, they accidentally leave the trunk open. In the present, Birdie and Joel discuss Ford not wanting to go to college anymore and end up making out on the road, while Catherine continues to titillate Tucker through the hidden cameras but is ambushed by the actual cleaning ladies.

The couple try to work past their issues while Alice and Brett have a fight about why he is ignoring her and he tells her that they need some space from each other because he is not getting anything out of their friendship. Elsewhere, Birdie reaches out to Misty in order to convince Ford to go to college. Last week, we were meant to think that Doug was the one who ended up dead however the pill bottles in the dead body’s pocket are a major clue in this episode and it turns out that Gary also has a bottle of pills on him!

I like how Grosse Pointe Garden Society constantly gives us new people to doubt in every episode and its runtime gives us clue after clue of who could’ve been the victim. In episode 5, we follow the characters on their journeys and I must say that I am hooked to them. Even without the crime part of it, the drama is delicious and I can’t get enough. Meanwhile, the crime part is interesting as well and the constant introduction of a thousand suspected victims is quite maddening. I was quite sure last week that we finally had our victim but it seems like there’s more here than meets the eye!
