Who is Big Mouse? Episodes 7 and 8 Take Viewers on a Wild Mouse Chase!

Big Mouth (빅마우스) is a crime-thriller-mystery Korean TV series directed by Oh Choong-hwan and stars Lee Jong-suk, Im Yoon-ah (Yoona), Kim Joo-hun, Kwak Dong-yeon and Yang Kyung-won, alongside other cast members. The series takes over MBC’s Friday-Saturday 10 PM KST timeslot, previously occupied by Doctor Lawyer.

The Kdrama revolves around Park Chang-ho, a below-average lawyer who gets embroiled in a conspiracy when his “big mouth” lands him in trouble. A murder case ends in him being called genius swindler Big Mouse, which results in him scrambling to clear his name and his life from the conspiracy and its results, with the help of his wife Ko Mi-ho.

Big Mouth Episodes 7 and 8 Recap

Figuring out Big Mouse’s identity becomes a big part of the story over the course of the latest episodes, and for a good reason – Chang-ho goes through a ton of things as he faces off against Ji-hoon, who tortures him mercilessly, and reels from Jerry’s betrayal and his supposed death later. It escalates to him running away and telling the world on a podcast on the day of the Three Musketeers’ trial that he’s Big Mouse and that he has some interesting things to say!

Meanwhile, Mi-ho is out to get her husband out and find out what happened to Jae-young’s papers. Also, what is so interesting about those papers that people are ready to kill over them? With a little help from mayor Do-ha, Mi-ho does the seemingly impossible – she finds Hye-jin, who has been on the run and convinces her to take her life into her own hands instead of letting Jae-do abuse her. Will she be able to get the actual papers in her hands soon, though? Only time will tell!

In episode 7, Mi-ho gets attacked by a mysterious masked man in the elevator. We linger for a minute on the guy’s arm while, after fighting like an absolute boss, Mi-ho gets choked by the attacker. His arm seems to have been burnt at some point, and although we don’t really see the tattoo that we have come to know represents everyone who works with Big Mouse, it wouldn’t be too far-fetched to wonder whether this is the titular criminal! However, I doubt it – the mouse is more careful and finessed with his work. He wouldn’t just jump into an elevator and try to murder Mi-ho like that.

Next, we see Chang-ho trying to one-up Big with the camera in the Mary statue. Chang-ho’s plan was quite solid, and I am actually a bit curious as to how Big got to know about it since, as Chang-ho mentions, only he, Mi-ho, Soon-tae and Gi-gwang knew about the camera. Again, we don’t see how Big does it, but he has definitely edited 30 minutes out of the video.

Chang-ho accuses Jerry since you could see him on the video clear as day. However, he doubts himself when he sees the video edited and Jerry vehemently denying any claims. However, it might just be a ploy not to be suspected – maybe Chang-ho did get a bit too close for comfort, and Jerry didn’t edit himself out so as to throw Chang-ho off his scent?

In the seventh episode, we don’t get to see Big in any way, other than that one attack on Mi-ho, which no one can be sure was done by him. It might just have been someone else (maybe Joo-hee?) who put another person to harm her.

Big Mouth Episode 8: More Big Mouse Clues

Still From Big Mouth Episode 8

In episode 8, Chang-ho dreams of himself to be Big. Is it an accurate representation? Is his subconscious trying to show him that he actually is Big Mouse? It’s a little far-fetched, definitely, but it wouldn’t be the wildest thing we’ve ever seen!

Anyway, we next see Big storing the gold bars away somewhere after baiting Ji-hoon with one. We don’t see any distinguishing features, but he’s wearing a similar outfit to what the guy who attacked Mi-ho in the elevator wore. We can’t see his arms to figure out whether this person is also burnt, but it feels like these two people might just be the one and the same.

At Jiseong Mental Center, someone wearing a nurse’s uniform with long hair lights the place on fire. They have the tattoo on their finger – it’s probably one of the nurses in the hospital, but maybe, just maybe, Big Mouse can be a woman? Again, purely speculative, and I think Big is a guy purely because I think he has to be in prison to keep an eye on Chang-ho and because the mental centre is just a transitory space.

Anyway, then Jerry comes over to save Chang-ho. Coincidence? I think not! However much he says that Big paid him to do all of this, I think there’s more to it than just money. He either directly works with Big Mouse, or he is Big himself. Jerry’s character seems to have more than what we are being shown, and the scene where he tells Chang-ho that he will tell him everything later seems to have more connotations than simply – I was paid by a masked man.

We don’t see Big Mouse’s presence after this – just the police officer who lets Chang-ho go at the checkpoint. He’s definitely working under him; a random character being Big Mouse is highly unlikely.

I think the people whom I am carefully considering as the titular bad guy are Jerry, Soon-tae and Soo-chul, the prison guard. I would, however, be delightfully shocked if Chang-ho turns out to be Big as well. Or maybe it’s someone whom we are yet to meet? I mean, we do still have tons of episodes to go through!
