Derry Girls Season 3 Plot/Storyline
Netflix’s synopsis describes the show as:
Set in Northern Ireland in the 1990s, the sitcom presents the coming-of-age arc of a group of friends consisting of four Derry girls and one English boy, afflicted by The Troubles, the conflict regarding the province’s state of belonging. While the Protestants hoped for it to continue being a part of the United Kingdom, Roman Catholics demanded it is included in the Republic of Ireland.
With the 16-year-old Erin as the main protagonist along with her group of friends at the center, the show is based on its writer, Lisa McGee’s personal experiences about having to reside in the midst of all the political chaos and uncertainty.
Even though the premise makes the plot seem a grave matter of interest, the show never fails to satirize the period of unrest and how a group of teenagers came to comprehend their lives at the time.
