No Tail To Tell Episode 5 Recap

No Tail To Tell Episode 5 Review
No Tail To Tell Episode 5 Review: Lomon

This episode begins with Si-yeol and Eun-ho experiencing a tranquil moment where Eun-ho falls asleep and Si-yeol just looks at her. He admires her and catches himself before he could be more enamoured with her. At the same time, Eun-ho wakes up after seeing a nightmare where Si-yeol stabs her. She thinks of it as a bad omen and keeps her distance from Si-yeol for the time being, because now that she is a human, she cannot protect herself. But they get a lot closer in the following scenes, where they go to spend the night at a hotel.

Here, at night, not being able to fall asleep, they get drunk and discuss their lives. Eun-ho also shares her feelings about turning a human, and it is one of those moments where they both try to be truthful to each other.  Later, both Si-yeol and Eun-ho go on a hike because they want to find another nine-tailed fox. But there is no guarantee that she has not become human in the meantime, so the expedition can very well fail. Si-yeol and Eun-ho spend the night at the hilltop, hoping to find the nine-tailed fox in freezing weather, and here, something unexpected happens.

Si-yeol falls down the side of a cliff and sprains his ankle. This is an extremely bad situation, and just when all hope was lost for them, a woman approaches them. This is none other than the nine-tailed fox, Geum-ho, who was also Eun-ho’s close friend, who died after becoming a human. At first, Eun-ho becomes happy seeing her, but she also becomes very angry later, as she believes that the new person is a doppelganger of her friend. Geum-ho then defends herself, claiming that she is just a fox cultivating herself in the mountains. Geum-ho actually heals Si-yeol’s leg, and Eunho refuses to meet Geum-ho in the beginning because of how upset she is.

But they finally go to the place where Geum-ho stays, and here they discuss the lore of the nine-tailed foxes. Eun-ho feels like the gods are just toying with her by introducing a fox, who looks exactly like her dead friend. and that pisses her off. Something interesting happens here as Geum-ho tries to get Si-yeol his famous life back, but fails to do so. Here, it becomes clear that Geum-ho actually does not have enough spiritual power to pull something like this off. But finally, every mystery gets resolved, as we get to know that Geum-ho is actually just an eight-tailed fox.

No Tail To Tell Episode 5 Review

This episode dived heavily into the lore of the foxes, and we get very little chemistry between the leads. Though a natural bond is slowly forming between them, it is still very far away from proper romance. Overall, I think it was a decent episode that was lore-heavy and focused more on the story.

The characters are likable for now, but I would also like to witness a bit more newer themes, as we saw in the beginning.
