-Servant Season 4 Episode 8 Recap Contains Spoilers-
The knife is back, ladies, gentlemen and my gender-non-conforming folks! The episode starts with a storm warning. The rain is pouring on Spruce Street. Leanne is sitting and staring at the screen, watching the news anchor get scared by the influx of rats coming out of the sewers. Dorothy is on her bed, feeling absolutely useless with everything happening in her family. Sean brings the crib into her room and reassures her that everything is okay.
After she falls asleep, Julian and Sean make their way to the tunnels in the house, closer to the basement, to lure Leanne here. Uncle George said he would care for her as long as the brothers-in-law brought her to the basement. Planning on how to do that, the duo decide that it is best Julian does it because she trusts him more. However, when he gets to her, she is laughing and yelling at the storm, looking through the skylight in the attic.
This scares Julian, and he listens to her go on about how the storm is about her and for her. Not listening or understanding a single word of this, he asks her to come with him, and Leanne is not having any of it. Not seeing any other option, he calls for Sean and drags her to the basement. In the middle, she passes out on the floor, and the duo use Dorothy’s wheelchair to bring her to Uncle George. He is seen back in his tattered clothes revealing just exactly how well he could lie.

Julian doesn’t want to leave her like that, but Sean convinces him to come back up. He vomits into the sink, and Sean is right there to help him with a drink. Meanwhile, Dorothy tries to take a shower and go to Jericho when she hears him crying but slips and falls in the middle. The pain forces her to drag herself to her child instead of walking there.
In the basement, Leanne is held by Uncle George, and he launches into another lecture about how she can turn herself in and save the world and everyone around her. She is almost on board with this idea until George calls her ‘wicked’, and she gets angry enough to stab him through the chin. The rest of the cult members standing around the fire are now backing away, but Leanne catches up to them, also stabbing them to death.
Sean and Julian are sitting in the kitchen hoping for something, and they do hear the sound of someone singing lullabies, which creeps the hell out of them. When Sean takes the cutting knife from the fruit plate, Julian warns him, but he brushes it off. Suddenly, a strong gust of wind comes in and throws the duo off course. Sean is stabbed by the knife he was carrying, and now Leanne is standing in the kitchen.
Julian begs her to let him call the police, but she pushes him down the basement, and he falls into the sinkhole in the basement. Leanne is not a monster, so she calls the police. Dorothy hears all this shouting and tries to come down the stairs, but Leanne reassures her that it’s only the two of them now.
Servant Season 4 Episode 8 Review
Finally, we see some development in the way Leanne presents herself. We already knew she was deranged and crazy, but this is fantastic. She is openly admitting her hate for all the other members of the family except Dorothy. It really explains why she was trying to get together with Julian and why she was making things better for Sean.
Some of the best parts of the show were the push-and-pull between rooting for Leanne and hating her. This episode finally brought that dilemma back. There is still this whole debate between Team Leanne and Team Dorothy that truly made the show interesting. Moral dilemmas like this are what make audiences come back for the episodes over and over again.
Additionally, we finally see some resolution for the Uncle George character, for whom nobody really rooted. There is a crescendo coming, and this episode is building the orchestra extremely well. There are now three injured people in the house. The only person safe is Jericho and Leanne. Even if nobody believes, Sean and Julian are wholeheartedly convinced that Leanne is not normal. Let the actual fight begin now, finally.
