In season 1, our hearts broke when Kate said she never wanted to see Tully again towards the end of the 10th episode. I was personally shocked on different levels. Because these two beautiful souls complete each other, how could they even be apart? To my prayers, Maggie Friedman answered them in Season 2. Not entirely, but she gave hope in Part 1.

So in Part 1, we finally get to know that Johnny is safe from the explosion that happened in the first season. Sadly, he is physically okay but is mentally traumatized. At such an important time, Kate, his ex-wife, comes to comfort him, flying all the way to Germany with the help of Tully. While Tully uses her money and affords a private jet, we also know that she is in a financial crisis.

Wilson King apparently has sued Tully, and she is currently in a position where she cannot pay her lawsuit. Luckily, an agent called Justin helps her and gives her a big idea. Let’s keep in mind that this lawsuit is happening in 2000 when the Internet was budding. So Justin helps Tully use it and films a docuseries showing Tully’s pursuit of her father. Finally, Tully finds her father, but unfortunately, he is dead. But, at the very least, the father died knowing who his daughter was, and Tully had an encounter with him as a stranger.

While the problems these women were facing—a lawsuit and a divorce—came to an end, Tully and Kate are again met with a huge problem. When Kate and Johnny try to spend a night alone, they ask Tully to take care of Marah (Kate and Johnny’s daughter). Marah, who is grounded, pleads with Tully to go to the movies with her crush, Ashley. Tully agrees despite Kate’s objections because she believes Marah

But unfortunately, Ashley takes Marah to a frat party, where Marah gets harassed by a boy. Luckily, Marah hides in a pantry closet and seeks Tully’s help. Tully rushes to the party and saves Marah. Tully is agitated as she drives back to her house when an unexpected accident occurs, causing their car to flip.

When Tully regains consciousness, Kate and Johnny ignore and despise her for putting Marah’s life in danger. Apart from that, Tully once again becomes a news sensation as she gets arrested for driving while intoxicated. That’s good enough for her, she wins the case and pleads innocent. But things aren’t the same without Kate. Tully moves back to Firefly Lane, decorates her childhood home, and gifts it to her mother, Cloud.

Tully tries to spend her new life without Kate by doing things for herself. She learns to bake, goes onto take writing classes, forms friendship with her lost love Danny and stays away from chasing her dream. On the other hand, Kate, who lost her father, tries to lead a calm life with her husband and daughter.

Kate never wishes to talk to Tully about putting her family at risk. So Kate befriends another woman and tries to share her daily life with her. To her surprise, the new “friend” doesn’t really care. Kate then experiences a rash on her breast that seems to grow rapidly. On checking what it is, she finds out that she has breast cancer, and she is at stage 3. With her life crumbling down, Kate realizes that she needs Tully.

We know, right? Good things don’t easily happen. Just like that, when Kate finally tries to seek out her best friend, Tully leaves. In the end of the ninth episode, we see how Kate uses an elevator to reach Tully’s apartment while Tully is seen using another elevator to go down with her luggage as she is leaving for Antarctica. What in the world of soulmates is this sadness that I’m feeling!
