In Chicago, 1982, seven people suddenly died after taking extra-strength Tylenol in the comfort of their homes. Cold Case: The Tylenol Murders Review

Through three to-the-point and shocking episodes, Netflix’s Cold Case: The Tylenol Murders brings forth a shocking crime that not only killed several people but also left millions in fear of a common, everyday drug. The series is a heart-thumping watch, but not because it brings up a thrilling twist. There has been a resolution for this crime, and no one has been charged for it. However, this unsolved case leaves us shocked because the case seems not to have been taken as seriously as one might imagine.

The thought of common, over-the-counter drugs having potassium cyanide in them is a thought that doesn’t come to the minds of many. However, this series unlocks a new fear for me. For viewers who are not aware of this incident, it will come as a shock. The series presents its facts from the mouths of those close to the case and doesn’t add unnecessary fluff to make it more dramatic than it needs to be. It also includes some emotional aspects that will leave viewers sympathetic towards the victims who lost their lives without any rhyme or reason and never got justice.

This series is for viewers who are interested in true crime that delves into something other than gruesome murders. Although the incident surrounds murders, it’s more of a psychological warfare that left Johnson&Johnson scrambling and the police clueless on next steps. Interestingly, there have been a few arrests and suspects, but none stick, and so you might be left disappointed in the end.

The most interesting part of this series, however, is the conspiracy theories that will float around in your head as you watch. There are several possibilities, and the series brings forth most of them. However, how is it possible for one person to lace several bottles of Tylenol with potassium cyanide, repackage the bottles and then distribute them? Is there a darker conspiracy that the big shots of the world are trying to cover up? Is there a darker turn awaiting somewhere that waits to be unearthed? Unfortunately, we don’t get the answers, but the questions don’t stop coming.

The storytelling in Cold Case: The Tylenol Murders is thrilling, as it is to the point. It’s a chilling showcase of a shocking crime that made millions paranoid and launched one of the biggest criminal investigations of the time. Although, unfortunately, we still don’t know who could’ve done such a heinous crime, maybe one day in the near future, there will be a resolution and justice for the victims. Till then, prepare to be left thrilled by this chilling documentary.

The series is now streaming on Netflix.
