Big Mouth episode 13 starts with Chang-ho outside No Park’s restaurant just before the place blows up. He and Soon-tae are left shocked at the sight while elsewhere, Do-ha informs Sung-geun that Chang-ho isn’t dead but that they should keep an eye on him because he’s as dangerous as Big Mouse. However, Chairman Kang isn’t really interested in all that and tells Do-ha not to get his hands any dirtier.
Outside the Elder’s house, Do-ha and Ji-hoon get into another spat, after which the mayor thinks back to the chairman, exclaiming that he doesn’t like bloodshed and laughs at the notion considering he has already killed so many people. Just then, his assistant asks him whether he wants to kill Chang-ho as well, and he mentions that he knows too much. If this keeps going on, Chang-ho will take him down while he worries about the chairman.
The assistant then goes to meet someone called Waterfowl in a shady bar and pays him to will Chang-ho. Meanwhile, Chang-ho, sitting in front of No Park’s dead body, thinks back to what he had told him about trusting him and looks like he’s ready to take revenge. As he comes out of the mortuary, Waterfowl waits for him and starts to follow him.
Chang-ho goes to No Park’s restaurant to investigate, and there starts a fight between him and Waterfowl. Just as things start to get a bit too dramatic, Jerry and his associate come to his rescue and stop him from getting stabbed. Jerry tells him not to worry and that their organisation will take care of him and Mi-ho.
As Mi-ho and Gi-gwang are taken to a hotel to keep safe, Jerry tells Chang-ho that only one of the Big Three can make requests to keep someone safe. He himself has only joined recently. Chang-ho, obviously, has questions about who the Big Three are, and Jerry takes him to a church wherein he will get all the answers that he is looking for.
At the church, Yoon-gab turns out to be number three on the totem pole, and an impassioned speech by No Park turns Chang-ho into Big Mouse. He clearly wasn’t expecting that and looks rather shocked at the turn of events. Yoon-gab refuses to believe that No Park would say this and accuses Chang-ho of trying to take over the organisation by taking a false video.

Yoon-gab asks everyone in attendance who took the video, and when Soon-tae enters and takes responsibility for the video, things turn even more shocking. Chang-ho, for one, can’t believe that this is happening, and Yoon-gab looks like he has seen a ghost. Soon-tae asks everyone whether anyone has a problem with No Park’s last wish. When no one opposes it, Yoon-gab agrees to comply.
After he leaves, Soon-tae asks Chang-ho to make a decision. As he wonders what to do, Do-ha gets the news that Waterfowl has committed suicide. The mayor is smart enough to know that that’s not what happened and that he was killed, but wonders whether Chang-ho is capable of something this despicable. Back at the church, Chang-ho and Soon-tae must catch up with the new developments and their changing relationship.
Things aren’t easy for Chang-ho just yet, however. If he chooses to be Big Mouse, he has to take on the role for real. He’s Number Two in the organisation, but the moment he shows weakness, they will take worse steps. Back at home, Chang-ho asks his family what he should do – should he see Big Mouse’s request through or stop there? Mi-ho wants to go through with it and see justice being served, and Chang-ho can’t help but agree with her logic.
The next day, Chang-ho meets Soon-tae to get some answers about No Park’s daughter, the missing one billion and how they planted that gold bar when he was in the mental hospital. After getting the answers, he gets down to business and asks Soon-tae to make everyone do a background check on Chairman Kang – he needs to know everything about him. As they get into a meeting filled with exposition about Chairman Kang and everyone involved in the NR Forum, Mi-ho opts to look into the rising number of leukaemia cases in Gucheon and whether they are connected to NK Chemicals, and Chang-ho asks Soon-tae to look into the chairman more.

At Guheon Hospital, Joo-hee, now heading the audit committee, is absolutely devastated to look through the confidential files. That night, she asks Chairman Kang to give up NK Chemicals since the side effects of NF9 are reaching their limits. She asks him to get rid of this burden, but the Elder isn’t having it and doesn’t accept her proposal. When he leaves, Do-ha confesses that he killed Jae-young, and the only reason he was allowed to marry her was if he agreed to do whatever was asked of him to do.
That night, Joo-hee asks Mi-young and the security guard to get rid of the secret lab within the night. When she goes to meet Chairman Kang, though, she spins the tale differently – she wants to build the lab in a better way so that no one gets to know about it after this. The lab in the hospital was a liability, and this time, she wants to do it better. However, to do this, she asks for the Elder’s shares that he was about to give to Ji-hoon so that she has the power to get her hands dirty.
As she takes the shares from the Elder, Ji-hoon looks at Joo-hee with disbelief. Outside, Do-ha is proud of his wife for taking this decision. Later, as Do-ha gets attacked in the shower room of the dive pool, a newly-freed Chun-sik meets up with Chang-ho, Jerry and Soon-tae. The latter gives him a restaurant to run, but the celebration is cut short when they get to know that Yoon-gab has sent the men to attack Do-ha.
Soon-tae reminds Chang-ho to do something to control Yoon-gab. Otherwise, the organisation will fall apart.
Soon-tae and Jerry go to meet Yoon-gab later on for going against the organisation. Yoon-gab seems like he’s in no mood to play with the team and tells tall tales about Chang-ho being weak and stuff. Soon-tae, having heard enough, bonks his head with a pool ball, and in the next scene, we see him bound and gagged in a car with kerosene being poured on it.

The other members of the organisation look on as Soon-tae starts to light the car on fire. However, a timely call from Chang-ho stops him, and they take Yoon-gab to meet Chang-ho, who looks like an absolute boss. The new Big Mouse tells him that he will reveal Do-ha and his organisation’s biggest crimes in front of everyone so that they have nowhere to run.
On the other hand, Mi-ho, looking into NF9 and Cho Hae-soo and finds Do-ha’s family but isn’t able to make the connection between the drowned boy in the river and the current mayor. However, she goes to meet the brother-in-law, the only member who is still alive, and learns that his grandson’s name is Do-ha. Gi-gwang confirms that news, and Mi-ho is excited to connect the dots finally.
Meanwhile, Do-ha, after getting his wounds treated, tells reporters outside the hospital that he will run for the assembly elections after his term as mayor is over. Seeing the press conference, Chang-ho decides to hold his own press conference in order to get close to Chairman Kang. Interestingly, he also calls Ji-hoon to the conference.
Big Mouth Episode 13 Ending
As the press conference starts, he announces to everyone that he will be running for mayor as an independent and will sever the dirty ties that Do-ha had made during his tenure. When Ji-hoon gets there, he asks him to work together to win the election and further asks him to set up a meeting with Chairman Kang. As Do-ha is talking to the chairman about Chang-ho, the latter gets there to meet with him.
In a rather delicious turn of events, Chang-ho introduces himself in front of the chairman as everyone else looks at him with disbelief.
Big Mouth Episode 13 Review
Well, what a shocking number of things happened in today’s episode! Soon-tae being a part of the organisation doesn’t come as a shock to many at this point. I would’ve really been shocked if Mi-ho walked out from somewhere to join the funeral. Either way, Chang-ho becoming Big Mouse was as expected as it was shocking.
It’s great watching Lee Jong-suk make shocking decisions even outside the prison as the real Big Mouse. He really embodies the role perfectly. Moreover, it’s not just his conviction that the actor showcases splendidly; it’s great watching him in the vulnerable moments as well.
Plus, we thankfully get to watch a lot of Jerry in this episode, and an adorable Chun-sik makes an appearance with the cutest hat. We love it. I want Jerry to have more of a role instead of simply being the new hire who only takes orders. He’s an actor capable of so much more.
Either way, Mi-ho figuring out complicated things is also great to watch and one of my favourite things about her. Her action sequences have gone down, but she’s still an integral part of the investigation.
I am really interested to know who Number One is in the organisation.
The storyline is flowing pretty well, and we don’t have time to sit back and think at the moment. There’s enough content to keep us invested, and the story is getting pushed forward continuously. Although it was deliciously twisted when we didn’t know who Big Mouse really was and everything wasn’t open in the air, I’d say it’s still going strong.
Big Mouth really is doing itself a huge service with the tremendous pacing. Thus, this is, all in all, an entertaining episode.
Check out the series on Disney+ and on MBC.
