So, even if going for trick-or-treating is not your way of doing things, you can still indulge in the fun of it all by diving into the best Brooklyn Nine Nine Halloween episodes binge party. All 8 seasons of the beloved comedy sitcom that wrapped up in 2021 have at least one go-to Halloween episode to celebrate the precinct’s ultimate “Amazing Human/Genius”. While all seasons have allowed each of these bubbly characters to shine bright at least once, we’ve ranked our top 5 episodes over the seasons.
It was a tough assignment, but we came through and now it’s time to delight ourselves with some of the best episodes of the series. Evidently, these Halloween episodes have also been some of the overall top-rated episodes of the series and we all know why. Getting to see the squad pull up with their best and worst antics to pull off the heists and one up each other has always made way for the best situational comedy.
Best Brooklyn Nine Nine Halloween Episodes
1. Jake’s Surprise Proposal – Brooklyn Nine Nine HalloVeen (Season 5 Episode 4)
Among all these episodes, the Brooklyn Nine Nine Halloween heist proposal moment has to be our favourite one. Without a debate, this particular episode incites long-buried emotions and reminds us that we’re all Boyle (Joe Lo Truglio) when it comes to rooting for Amy (Melissa Fumero) and Jake’s (Andy Samberg) relationship since Day 1. While everyone is pacing forth to win the title of the Amazing Human/ Genius title, Jake has other altruistic and ulterior plans up his sleeve. Getting down on his knees, he may have halted the Halloween race, but ultimately opened up the conversation to one of the most heartfelt moments of the series that we’d all been waiting for – the ultimate Peraltiago win!
2. Where It All Began – Brooklyn Nine Nine Halloween (Season 1 Episode 6)
We can’t go anywhere without crediting the Halloween heist that started it all in the first season with Jake taunting Captain Holt (Andre Braugher) and finally bagging the first-ever “amazing-slash-genius-detective” title. Not only did Jake promise everyone to complete their paper work, he also one-upped Holt in a way by teaming up with them that the Nine Nine Captain had no choice but to admit defeat and also cover Jake and others’ paper work. Moreover, we are all familiar with Jake and Boyle’s epic friendship, but for the first time, through this episode, we also got a chance to see Boyle and Amy bond with each other, pulling up with their absurd Halloween costumes to bust crime.
3. Holt’s Revenge – Brooklyn Nine Nine Halloween II (Season 2 Episode 4)
As announced in the end, Captain Holt started planning his Halloween revenge on Jake the minute he sat down to complete the said “paper work” in Season 1. Flipping the tables on his protege/ son in an alternate universe, this time Holt joined forces with the rest of the Nine Nine in their joint attempts to mortify Peralta. Unlike Jake, he didn’t need to plan an elaborate speech to win them over and it makes for the tastiest revenge plans ever that has us wheezing till the end with Jake handcuffed to the table.
4. Amy’s Takeover – Brooklyn Nine Nine Halloween III (Season 3 Episode 5)

Changing things up in the third season, Jake and Holt decide to go after the same artefact by drafting teams of their own. The squad takes either of the two’s sides, but leave behind Amy as both Peralta and Captain think that regardless of who she was teaming up with, she’d end up betraying the one for the other. In a team of her design, she goes solo and proves them both wrong by outrunning them and taking the crown for the amazing-slash-genius-detective win, becoming the Queen of the Nine Nine, only officially this time.
5. Sergeant Jeffords Recovers His Sense of Humour – Brooklyn Nine Nine Cinco de Mayo (Season 6 Episode 16)
Heists are dumb, or so has been established over the years by our very own Sarge (Terry Crews). However, this one time, with his lieutenant exam coming up, the Nine Nine squad switches up the Halloween heist date to the day of Cinco de Mayo as an effective means to distract him and sway his stress. While it may seem at first that Terry was left with no choice but to give into his team’s decision and play along, eventually he pulls up his socks of vengeful humour and embraces the heist fever with flying golden colours. Even Kevin (Marc Evan Jackson) pulled up for that year’s shenanigans, making it an even bigger deal than it was originally.
