In the last two seasons, Asli and Lale continued to butt heads as they try to take over prime-time news with their talent and determination but at the end of the day, it becomes clear that true talent will shine regardless of the situation as Asli gets a reality check when the hunter becomes hunted and Lale spares no time to hit back where it hurts. It’s a game of ambition and greed in which Asli ends up losing. Lale gives ‘The Other Side’ to Yousuf and starts something new with Kenan while Asli starts a new show with Gul. Unfortunately, in the last scene, Lale is left shocked when she learns about a leaked sex tape signifying the basic plot for the third season!

As the Crow Flies Season 3 Review
In As The Crow Flies Season 3 thankfully gives us a different angle to look at – with Asli and Lale now on good terms, it’s time for these two women to stand up against other adversities and rise to the top. However, that holds a different meaning for different people and Asli and Lale don’t seem to be playing the same game anymore… but their games, this time, are completely different as they navigate their professional and personal lives in an ever-changing dynamic.
This season is a little weird in many ways, with different challenges coming up against our protagonists and their own shows, things get challenging quickly. The third season shines thanks to the interpersonal conflicts among the characters whom we know and have come to love. The storyline is bigger than last season and we finally see old and new friends and foes come together to battle it out one last time in this messy game of politics. I must say, first and foremost, that I love watching Asli and Lale not tearing each other down and focusing on their own lives.
Lale’s issues in this season are deeper wherein she learns about herself and what she truly wants in her life. You relate to Lale and the ups and downs that she goes through constantly and at one point, your heart breaks for her. She doesn’t always make the correct decisions but her decisions will make you take her side regardless because her morality is always on point. Birce Akalay plays our loving Lale with so much love and dedication that you see the genuineness in every frame. Akalay makes you fall in love with Lale even at her worst and you don’t complain one bit.
On the other hand, we have Asli’s character arc, which, surprisingly, is quite warm with a touch of crazy, of course. Asli’s selling point is her craziness but it’s her drive that makes us root for her. This season her character is given much more grace and, if anything, she feels more human. She has her selfish moments, but at least she’s gone through the wringer and thus understands that she must stop herself from going over the edge again. In that sense, her character leaves us mesmerised, especially because Miray Daner is as mesmerising as Asli. She’s a tough nut to crack, but underneath it all, she has a soft side that we get to see more.
I loved the storyline between Asli and Lale in this season. Although that’s not something that we initially expected from the series, after two very long seasons, I think it’s safe to say that getting a twist is always a great idea. It shows growth as they both learn something from one other and make space for each other and their conversations are some of the most vulnerable in this season. Speaking of vulnerability – the scene between Lale and Kenan in episode 5 might break a few hearts!

That being said, I truly was left mouth agape with some of the decisions that were taken in this season. Like, why, after so much that has happened in the last two episodes, would Lale make some of the choices that she has made in this season? I will obviously not spoil anything, but there are moments in the season that truly make you want to tear your hair out because of how improbable they seem. The unnecessary sex tape leak thing that we saw in the last season was also rather anticlimactic and I feel like the series could’ve delivered its conflict in a different way.
Similarly, there are several different choices that the series makes that feel rather unnecessary and extremely forced. The hundreds of times these people constantly change workplaces is also quite an odd occurrence and makes things feel unreal. Also, what’s with Kenan in this season? His behaviour seems so out of place. We also don’t address Lale’s rather flighty behaviour this season which will leave you with many questions that won’t be answered. Plus, what’s with the silly love triangle in the last episode? Makes no sense and is definitely a mess to get into!
Final Thoughts
At this point, I think all of us have grown attached to the different characters in the series and the interesting character arcs this season make it even more arresting. Lale and Asli are a dream to watch and, much like the interns in every workplace Lale goes to, we are also left mesmerised by her presence. It’s not the best season of a show because there are many things that we are left to question and decisions we are left to mull over because they don’t make sense. But it’s definitely an entertaining and arresting watch and the 8 episodes fly by with a ton of melodrama.
