Single’s Inferno Season 4 Episode 9 Recap

The initial shock of Jun-seo choosing Si-an in the last episode is still gripping everyone on and off camera in episode 9, which is only made more shocking with Jeong-su chooses You-jin to go to Paradise with. Lastly, Te-hwan chooses Ji-yeon, which takes her by surprise. Although it seems like she is happy, the panellists mention that giving Ji-yeon some space would’ve worked out for Te-hwan in the long run. Afterwards, Min-seol shares her frustration with Jeong-su not choosing her, leaving everyone baffled as well.

Either way, Jeong-su seems more at ease on this date with You-jin, who chats away to relieve his stress while he opens up about his feelings for Si-an. Meanwhile, Jun-seo and Si-an have a colder date, with the former thinking more about Min-seol and not being able to give his 100% to the date, while Si-an constantly evaluates the men she is interested in. Lastly, Ji-yeon and Te-hwan also seeem to be having a pretty bad date as their personalities clash and he constantly talks about himself instead of trying to know her.

The real twist, however, comes when Si-an & Jun-seo and Jeong-su & You-jin are taken to the same date location. There’s a clear tension in the air as Jun-seo doesn’t give Si-an the attention that she wants, which highlights how kind and accommodating Jeong-su is towards You-jin. The panellists also highlight this and wonder what the future holds for the couple as Si-an seems to be quite annoyed with how the night went for them.

Back at Inferno, Hye-jin openly tells Jong-hoon in front of everyone that she is interested in him and he immediately takes her out to talk. After opening up about their feelings, he promises to take her to Paradise the next day. Hae-lin also talks to Dong-ho, which makes A-rin uneasy. Although later she does get a chance to talk to him privately, things feel a bit off.

Although funny, again, I think the episodes really lack a spark this season. I am tired of conversations being dull and the plots not moving forward. I also feel like a lot could’ve been removed from these sequences that just drag on for too long. This episode, especially, is interesting thanks to the panellist — the contestants hardly do anything. That being said, I appreciate the awkward bar encounter between the two couples; thankfully that felt a bit fresh.
