Single’s Inferno 3 Shocking Moments
A second island is introduced
The season starts with six singles on an island going to Paradise right at the start. What starts off as a little shocking moment turns extremely confusing after the contestants, having spent a blissful first day in Paradise, realise that they will not be going back to their islands with their dates – they are going to join other contestants to a completely different island where a fresh set of contestants are waiting for them! The twist introduced to shake things up this season left fans and panellists shocked and pushed the contestants to face new challenges with completely new people!
This one, that one and this one
A comment that rubbed almost everyone in a bad way, Lee Gwan-hee, this season’s most frustrating participant, is asked who he is interested in. After everyone gave out candies, they were given a treat by the show and hung out by the campfire to have some fun. Gwan-hee, in a rather shocking moment, tells everyone that he is equally interested in three people and then points out, saying, “this one, that one, and this one”. Everyone, including the other participants and the panellists, is taken aback by the way he pointed them out without using their names.
Ha-bin even frustratedly points out that the women have names, after which he points them out with their names. However, by then, the damage was done. Ha-jeong even mentions that it was awkward and unexpected, and everyone looked extremely awkward during this unnecessary encounter.
Min-young’s “Candy Crush” Saga
During the same sit-down encounter, Jin-seok is asked how many candies he gave out, and he, with utmost sincerity, says one, implying that he gave it to Min-young. Having shared a close bond with her from the beginning, his devotion showed clearly in the way he was around her. When it came time to ask Min-young, she, in a shocking twist, mentioned that she had given out 4 candies!
Although that is fair play, everyone was of the opinion that she was devoted to Jin-seok as well. However, this showcase left him with a bad taste in his mouth, after which he started mingling with the other women as well. At the bonfire, everyone is left shocked while Min-young, in a bold play, broke everyone’s perception of them as a couple! But, of course, that came with its own set of consequences later down the line.
Gyu-ri’s fury
In episode 10, with everyone clamouring to make their one last impression on their matches, Gyu-ri and Min-woo sit down to talk about their connection. Unfortunately for him, she goes on a rather condescending tirade, accusing him of being confused and essentially two-timing since he showed interested in Si-eun and didn’t wait for Gyu-ri as he was asked. Min-woo showed a lot of restraint and didn’t say anything to her comments to keep the peace.
In the midst of this, Si-eun pokes her head in the door and asks them if they need more time or whether she can talk to Min-woo. Gyu-ri, in a rather shocking (and scary) manner, tells her that she can’t talk to him yet and indirectly asks her to leave. The awkwardness and tension are palpable in the air and leave everyone side-eyeing her comments in the end. Jin-young even says that she showed her true self the moment she didn’t get what she wanted.
The fateful choice
Although the end choice has always been a shocking and confusing part of the show, people are left to wonder whether or not their favourite contestants will end up with the people that they expect. But this season, Gwan-hee’s antics and frustrating back and forth have been the highlight and a cause of a lot of people’s misery!
His thousand questions have left audiences, panellists and the contestants in a constant loop of confusion, and thus his last choice, between Min-ji and Hye-seon was the talk of the town. In episode 11, Gwan-hee breaks down multiple times in front of Hye-seon and his vulnerable conversation with her seals the deal for their relationship, as, in spite of the men thinking that he would choose Min-ji, he goes back hand-in-hand with Hye-seon, leaving everyone pleasantly shocked.
The series is streaming on Netflix.
