Sebastian Maniscalco: Is It Me? Review: Maniscalco’s Crude Humor Out of Hand or Just No Offense?

Sebastian Maniscalco is back with another exclusive Netflix original show Is it me? And it’s relatable, Max Pro. Sebastian, who has always made jokes using his family members, kept his shoes hard on this particular show. Sebastian’s fourth Netflix comedy special, directed by Peter Segal, runs for one hour and covers the Lost Vegas era appropriately.

The Netflix description of the show reads as follows: “In a lively stand-up set, Sebastian acts out life’s little agonies, from school drop-offs to off-leash dogs to date nights with his wife.” It does stand up to the description, but that isn’t all. I loved the show, and here is a full review of the Italian man’s jokes.

The show starts with an introduction to Las Vegas as “the jewel of the desert” and how Vegas has changed as it now has shiny, tall hotels, while the clients have lost their “sheen.” As soon as we hear him say these words, we’re shown people wearing explicit clothes and a HOBO kind of man grooving.

Then it switches back to the long-lost Vegas where people dressed to “impress,”  drank, smoked, and thought about only “cash.” Sebastian expressed his longing for them, as well as his time with the legendary music group Rat Pack. Sebastian’s face is, predictably, edited in all of the Rat Pack band’s official posters—comedian standards.

Then, as usual, the show starts with Sebastian entering the stage, pushing apart golden curtains, wearing his crisp tux, and thanking some of the audience members who have also dressed formally for the show’s theme. He additionally roasts the audience, who showed up with casual clothes—but that’s Sebastian’s style, you see.

Sebastian Maniscalco’s Family is Priceless

Whenever Sebastian pulls a joke using his family members, I wonder whether they’re really this hilarious or if Sebastian is making it up. In this Las Vegas show, Sebastian jokes about how his wife walks like a zombie in her heels, how she fails to order from a menu on time, and whatnot.

Moving on, he pulls in his two kids and tells the audience how being a father at 49 is fun, but all he does is lay around and sleep. Sebastian adds his parenthood touch by saying that he talks to his 3-year-old son like a big man and not with the baby voice that many dads annoyingly use.

Oh, it doesn’t stop here; there are way too many incidents he pulls in to show that he is as “dumb” as his wife is. It is pretty wonderful to see Sebastian mock his family while totally losing his cool too. Moreover, his jokes regarding his family are not disrespectful; they are really relatable and pretty chill.

Sebastian Maniscalco Brushes the Woke Culture

Brave move Sebastian, brave move! Our professional comedian decided to gently mock the woke culture by making jokes about identity and race. He even bets with the audience that he’ll win if someone disagrees with him over a particular thing—you’ll figure out what it is when you watch it.

Not only does he make jokes about it, but he also makes a lot of sense. He compares them to his childhood when birthday parties were simple and dangerous, but no one was ever sued. Unlike now, everybody gets cancelled if they express a personal opinion. No offence, and don’t sue me, but I loved his jokes. I took the jokes lightly because they were jokes, and he didn’t go too far out of bounds.

Sebastian Maniscalco is a legend. Even if he uses crude humour, he balances it with appropriate meaning. He really didn’t attack anyone or anything personally, but the comparisons made sense. Maybe some can get offended by him pulling only some races, but it was pretty evident that he had no specific intentions.

  1. He is hysterical! Another great stand up special!
We were so happy to hear there was a new show. I wish you had a new special every 6 months! I truly think you are the best comedian ever!!!

  2. I didn’t find his jokes funny at all. Not this time. In fact, he was very insulting and out of touch. I can take a joke that’s relatable especially.. but his jokes were not funny and not relatable! Sucked. Sorry.

  3. He started out like always: hilarious. Then it went downhill from there and just got worse and worse. He sounded like an old man and not a funny old man either. Way too political now. No one wants to hear that. We watch comedy to get away from politics. Worst routine of his career. So disappointing. He used to be so funny.

  4. Really disappointed in this one. Why is it when comedian’s get big, they’re not funny anymore? Just my opinion if course, I started watching his special on netflix and turned it off after 10 minutes waiting for a laugh and then went back and tried watching again, and gave up after still waiting to laugh. His innocence is gone, he doesn’t need need to try anymore and he acts cocky and arrogant.
