Rennervations Review: The Disney+ Hotstar documentary series features Jeremy Renner, often accompanied by his best friend, Rory. The 4-episode series is shot in different places like Chicago, India, Mexico and Reno. The docuseries also feature popular celebs like Vanessa Hudgens, Anil Kapoor, Sebastián Yatra and Anthony Mackie. Every episode is of 50 minutes approximately.
The episodes based in Chicago, Reno and Mexico were directed by Zach Merck. The episode shot in India was helmed by Rupert Smith.
The Rennervations Review is based on the 4-episode pre-viewing screeners provided by the Disney+ team and contains no spoilers.
In the Disney+ show Rennervations, actor Jeremy Renner decides to help different communities worldwide. He uses his passion for rebuilding or renovating things, along with some skilled fabricators, welders and mechanics, to do so. Renner, also a construction veteran, was always passionate about collecting discarded vehicles. In the show, he shows us how these huge vehicles can be transformed into something very useful for others, especially kids and teenagers in need.
In every episode, Jeremy is joined by a famous celebrity who will make these kids happier with just their presence. We see the Hawkeye actor’s observant and creative side when conveying what he wants to build inside an old bus or truck. His vision is brought to life by the incredibly talented build crew.
Watching Jeremy and the team rebuild vehicles into something unexpected is a pure marvel. At first, even I wondered how they would turn a restricted space into something so useful in a limited amount of time. But slowly, seeing the vision turn into a reality is gratifying. Jeremy and Rory are always there to spread cheers.
With exceptional skills, knowledge and experience from the building crew the makers have brought together for the joyous project, we see a tour bus becoming a mobile music studio for The BASE Chicago. In India, a delivery truck is being remade into a water treatment facility for school kids. There are more such interesting renovations.
My favourite episodes were from India and Reno, which feature Anil Kapoor and Anthony Mackie, respectively. The Indian episode shot in Rajasthan is also quite chaotic and dramatic. The Reno episode, shot in Renner’s hometown, is the warmest of all. It’s also a treat to see two Marvel actors come together and give a gift and happiness to the kids they will cherish forever.

Along with the pure and thoughtful intention of the show, I was also fascinated by the skills of the building crew. Whenever there was a countdown to delivery of the remodelled vehicle, I kept stressing about how they would wrap it all. But just like Jeremy, these mechanics are passionate and dedicated to their work. It is also amazing of the makers to give these crew their screen space to showcase their mastery and talk about their work and lives.
