The endless streak of November Kpop comebacks for this year has just welcomed a new player with the Red Velvet What a Chill Kill album. In an out of the blue, surprising notification from SM Entertainment, its 3rd generation girl group has now announced its third full-length album. Kicking off a new comeback era, the extraordinary quintet of Irene, Seulgi, Wendy, Joy and Yeri will be dropping yet another avant-garde musical masterpiece soon, and this just might me one of the best news from the K-pop domain to hit us today.
Red Velvet members recently also stepped out to join the notable lineup of SMTOWN 2023 SMCU Palace at Jakarta along with fellow label mates TVXQ, Super Junior, NCT 127, NCT Dream, WayV, aespa and RIIZE. Despite the members’ brand power being associated with the SM TOWN concert, their fans ReVeluvs were extremely disappointed with their label for not letting them have their own solo concert. Look like SM Entertainment has found the much-needed remedy to satiate the group’s desires at the moment with the third Red Velvet full album set to release in a month.
The first poster teaser minus the members’ appearance was released on the group’s official social media platform on October 18, 2023 (KST). Within the first few minutes of the same being uploaded on SNS, the group’s name along with other comeback-related hashtags started trending on X (formerly Twitter), further proving the group’s star power and hold on its fans, and Hallyu enthusiasts in general. The quintet also celebrated its 9th debut anniversary in August 2023.

Having debuted in 2014 (as a quartet), the SM group has consistently delivered mind-bending, dark and occult-ish album concepts till date. With the Red Velvet comeback 2023 upon us, the upcoming album’s title also teases that the girls will be following the same trend in terms of further establishing their pop, electro-funk discography. The ReVe Festival 2022 – Birthday was the last album Red Velvet that came out in November 2022, making What a Chill Kill their first comeback in nearly a year’s time. Irene, Seulgi, Wendy, Joy and Yeri had also collaborated with aespa members for the 2022 single Beautiful Christmas, which was featured on the 2022 Winter SMTOWN: SMCU Palace album.
