The DCEU is a vast one with projects that really have the potential to impress us but, somewhere down the lane becomes a letdown, taking down the entire franchise for its bad name in creating appropriate live adaptations. Peacemaker can be called the franchise’s redemption arc story that it has thrown our way to make sure that its projects don’t sink when they dive and, it has successfully made an impact after all.
Probably being dubbed as the best live-action project DC has released in years, Peacemaker is the first DECU TV series and also serves as the spin-off for the 2021 film The Suicide Squad. Created by Guardians of the Galaxy famed James Gunn, the show is produced by The Safran Company and Troll Court Entertainment in association with Warner Bros. Television.
The cast features John Cena reprising in his The Suicide Squad character known as Christopher Smith aka the Peacemaker. The other cast members include Danielle Brooks as Leota Adebayo, Freddie Stroma as Adrian Chase/Vigilante, Chukwudi Iwuji as Clemson Murn, Jennifer Holland as Emilia Harcourt, Steve Agee as John Economos and Robert Patrick as August Smith aka Auggie/White Dragon. The first season of the series has eight episodes in total, with a runtime of 40-50 minutes per episode.

Peacemaker: DC’s Rock and Roll Superhero
If you are someone who did not like Cena’s Peacemaker in The Suicide Squad and were visibly confused about why the character slowly threads on to become the anti-hero in the film, then this is just the show for you. In case, you are a comic genius this series is still for you as it tries its best to live up to the expectations and is faithful to its source material.
A jingoistic killer, the Peacemaker covers the story after the events that went down in the 2021 film. Exactly, five months after the dangerous mission in Corto Maltese, our titular character has seemingly recovered from the injuries he had sustained during the mission and is slated to get a discharge. On our anti-hero’s return to his home, he is offered a choice by a set of A.R.G.U.S. agents- Clemson Murn, Emilia Harcourt, John Economos, and Leota Adebayo (Amanda Waller’s daughter).
Peacemaker can either choose to return to the Belle Reve prison or embark on another mission called the ‘Project Butterfly’. He is reluctant but, still agrees to the second option. After retrieving Eagly, his pet eagle and donning on a new costume, our anti-hero walks the lane of a new journey that helps us understand him better. From forming a new team to his patriotism finally working for the benefit of the nation, the series revolves around the Butterfly mission and through that helps us unravel Peacemaker in a brand new way.

DC’s Peacemaker has various strong points that make it what it is. The storyline induced with humour that just gets to you is something that makes the show enjoyable to watch. Gunn has given a goofy nature to the show, which is starkly different from the kind of projects the DC Universe produces and it works to make the series the perfect cup of black comedy filled with action and drama.
John Cena as the titular character delivers some solid performance along with the other cast members which is what makes the cheeky nature of the show work out. The choice of certain musical scores are bang on that aids the narrative so well. For instance, Do Ya Wanna Taste It? by Wig Wam has to be one tune that we are all going to take back from this show.
Peacemaker: Final Verdict
A mysterious new threat and a goofy, hands-on black ops team are on the roll in the 2022 series called Peacemaker.
