This episode begins with Tama and Anette transporting Sensei’s coffin to their next destination. They plan to visit Tama’s hometown but first need to stop at a temple where a hero is expected to appear. There are four such temples that otherworlders must visit.

Following this, they receive guidance on their mission to defeat the dark lord. However, Sensei is not interested in this quest; he only wants to find his lover, Sachan. Anette is determined to help him and will do whatever it takes to reunite them. Tama comments on Anette’s deep devotion and love. During this journey, we meet a new character, Anette’s Familiar, which intrigues Sensei, who even names it.

Their journey takes a sudden turn when a dragon lands nearby. Initially, it seems they might avoid conflict, but chaos ensues when the dragon rider discovers Sensei is an otherworlder. The events that follow are intense and must be seen to be believed, including the revelation of those attacking Sensei and his group.

Right off the bat, Annette gets herself in trouble by falling prey to the magic of the original hero, Suzuki. Suzuki uses his skill and turns Annette into his pet. Not only that, he also casts the same spell on Tama. However, that is when Ysha comes to the scene and bravely proclaims to stop his wrongdoings, as the town will not fall to Suzuki’s commands. But this kind of threat did nothing, and he quickly used his slaves to wreak havoc.

In this situation, understanding that Suzuki is also a flawed man, Sensei quickly presents his interest towards him. Thus, Sensei and Ysha depart towards the church where Suzuki is supposed to make his new stronghold. Ysha thinks that Sensei has a plan and he will try to sneak up on Suzuki. But we know that that is not going to happen, and rightly so, Sensei goes to Suzuki directly and tells him he wants to write a novel about him.

Suzuki’s joy quickly turns to disdain when Sensei also mentions that it is not his heroic tales that he wants to write, but rather about a man who possessed more power than he should and ultimately failed. This is where an intense battle begins between Sensei and Suzuki. But towards the end, something very interesting happens, and this episode quickly becomes one of my favourites.

Sensei is definitely not an ordinary man, as he understands humanity in a way many don’t. Yes, he doesn’t want to live, but at the same time, he showcases how this sort of broken mindset is mainly because of a flawed society. Suzuki, who became a villain in this world, also suffered a bad life in his previous world.

He still did his best to master the power that he received here. But when he saw the people of this world for whom he was supposed to fight were the ones who hated him, he understood the futility of his mission.

I love this anime because it is totally different from what the generic Isekai shows are about. Unlike many shows in the genre that promise an ideal life in another world, this one emphasizes that the quality of your life, whether good or bad, hinges entirely on your actions. So, if you guys are still avoiding this anime, then you are really making a mistake.

  1. Also the fact that the main character truly has a mighty power, to send back summoned heroes to their world after writing their true personal story, is something that gives a whole new meaning to the story.
It is just not a nihilistic story of a guy that craves death, but a story of someone that truly has a different way to see things, a surprising deep insight, and a goal to fulfill to restore balance in the other world.

    Pretty interesting indeed
