Netflix’s latest documentary film, My Daughter’s Killer has raised some scary chills in all of our bodies. Directed by Antoine Tassin, the French docu-film is 1 hour 24 minutes long and brings out the horrors and loopholes of society and the justice system.
The film recounts the tragic death of Kalinka Bamberski, a 14-year-old girl, who was raped and murdered by her stepfather, Dr. Krombach and, how her biological father, André Bamberski, stepped into the picture to bring justice to his daughter. A struggle that lasted for over 30 years, the documentary shows us the extremes to which Mr. Bamberski went to get the killer of his daughter behind bars.
Although the 30-year-long quest might have put Kalinka’s soul to rest, the question in this age still remains what happened to Dieter Krombach after he was caught? Let us find out here.

My Daughter’s Killer: Where’s Dieter Krombach Now?
Towards the end of My Daughter’s Killer, we see how Andre Bamberski signed for the kidnapping of Krombach to be carried out, so he could be extradited from Germany and handed over to the French authorities. Thereafter, he was taken into custody by the French authorities and was then outstanding a warrant in his name for the death of Kalinka.
By 1995, Krombach was sentenced to 15 years in prison in France for “bodily harm leading to unintentional death”. He did not serve a sentence for voluntary manslaughter i.e., intentionally killing Kalinka. After his capture, the doctor tried to appeal to prove his innocence and get out of prison but, he was not successful in this endeavour.
It was on medical grounds, that Krombach was released nine years after in February 2020. The man died seven months later in September 2020, in Germany.

Hello, according to various reliable reports and sources, Krombach’s capture and trial phases from 1995 to 1997. He died in 2020 in an old-age home. I am not aware of any other dates. It would be helpful if you point out what is wrong in the article. Thank you 🙂
The man died seven months later in September 2022, in Germany. This part is wrong
Thank you. 2022 is a typing error. Please note, it is 2020.
If he was in prison for 9 years from 1995 why was he o ly released i n 2022?? The dates seem to be wrong
He received the verdict in 1995 but, that was annulled in 2001by the European Court of Human Rights. He had another trial in 1997 (not related to Kalinka’s case, that is why it isn’t mentioned). In 2006 he was sentenced to 28 months in prison but, only served 11 months and then was released. Thereafter, other women testified against him and he was on trial again and sentenced to another 15 yrs (this was related to Kalinka’s case). He appealed several times thereafter but, was only released in 2020 due to health reasons.
