The Predator franchise seems to be redeemed after the release of the brilliant 2022 film Prey which serves as the prequel to the franchise. The film is directed by Dan Trachtenberg and written by Patrick Aison. It is produced by John Davis, Marty P. Ewing, John Fox and Jhane Myers under the banner of 20th Century Studios and Davis Entertainment.
Prey stars Amber Midthunder in the central role along with Dakota Beavers, Dane DiLiegro, Stormee Kipp, Michelle Thrush and Julian Black Antelope. The runtime of the film is 99 minutes and it is surely one helluva ride you would not want to miss out on. Alien Film Series
A rival to the Predator film franchise but, also equally good if not better, the Alien film series consists of four original films, two crossovers with the Predator film series and two prequels to the entire franchise. It also has a television show of the same name on its way.

The franchise starts with the 1979 Ridley Scott movie led by Sigourney Weaver that centres around warrant officer Ellen Ripley and how she battles with an extraterrestrial lifeform aka the Alien or Xenomorph in outer space. The follow-up films in the franchise cover Ripley and the Alien’s story after this movie starting from what happens to both of our main characters, how the alien first came on earth and more. This entire franchise, especially the first film is a cult classic and must-watch.
Annihilation (2018)
Alex Garland can be called a hit-or-miss director yet one can never get enough of the director’s classic directorial debut Ex Machina, the Jeff VanderMeer adaptation Annihilation and his recent folk horror film Men. The 2018 film is a psychological horror with a science fiction twist. It is about a group of explorers (a mix of scientists, teachers, biologists, etc), who enter an isolated and mysterious quarantined zone called ‘The Shimmer’ and try to study the mutation caused by an unknown presence as they also fight to survive in the wilderness.

Jaws (1975)
The classic thriller that never gets old, Jaws is the Steven Spielberg film that has harboured appreciation from fans and critics over the years. It is based on the 1974 novel by Peter Benchley which is about a police chief, who with the help of a marine biologist as well as a professional shark hunter sets to hunt down the man-eating great white shark that has disrupted the people at a summer resort town.
The film stars Roy Scheider, Robert Shaw, Richard Dreyfuss, Lorraine Gary and Murray Hamilton. It also has a couple of sequels to its name but, the 1970s hit is the one that remains evergreen. Watch it, here.

Independence Day (1996)
Also known as ID4, this science fiction action film might just be what the Prey fans have been looking for! It features an ensemble cast that includes Will Smith, Bill Pullman, Jeff Goldblum, Mary McDonnell, Judd Hirsch, Margaret Colin, Randy Quaid, Robert Loggia, James Rebhorn, and Harvey Fierstein and is directed by the ‘master of disaster’ Roland Emmerich.
This film is considered to be one film in the turning point of Hollywood entertainment that gave rise to the resurgence of the science fiction and disaster genre in the industry. The Academy Award-winning film deals with an alien race that seeks to destroy the major cities of the world with their technological advancement and, how a pilot, a president and others who survive the attack prepare to save mankind. Terminator Film Series
What better way to end this list but to state another classic film franchise that is reminiscent of the Predator film series, right? Terminator and its sequels and series have creator one-of-a-kind impact on the world around us. The franchise starts with the 1984 film that features Arnold Schwarzenegger in the titular role, thus, sharing the same actor who started the Predator franchise.
The first film revolves around a cyborg assassin from the future, who returns to the present day to assassinate Sarah Connor, who is going to give birth to a son that will be responsible for saving mankind from extinction by Skynet, which is a hostile artificial intelligence force of the apocalyptic future. Meanwhile, another soldier is also sent back in time to save Sarah from the hands of the cyborg killer.
