Set against the backdrop of a family gathering at the parents’ seaside home for a festive Midsummer Night’s celebration, the series dives into the lives of Carina and Johannes, a couple of thirty years, who have nurtured a big Norwegian family.

As the couple prepares to unveil a significant announcement amidst the joyous festivities, the atmosphere takes a tumultuous turn. Amidst the backdrop of a traditional Swedish Midsummer, replacing the customary Norwegian celebration, long-buried secrets and emotions emerge, casting a shadow over the gathering and altering the course of events.

Does Helena confess her feelings to Darius?

Without being able to hold herself back anymore, Helena goes to Darius and tells him that she knows about her sister’s infidelity. Not only that but she also discloses her own feelings for him and kisses him. But she realises that he is genuinely in love with Hanne and promises to move on from him. 

After this, Helena becomes more cheerful and has an honest conversation with Robert who then discloses to her how he has always loved her since he met her at their previous job. Towards the end, it seems she accepted his feelings.

After some time Carina goes to Johannes to talk about his previous outburst where she tells him she is sorry for what happened but Johannes should also apologise to Hakan for saying mean things.

Johannes does return to the party and properly apologises and even calls himself an idiot for behaving rudely. Hakan says that he realises the divorce thing must have been difficult for Johannes to stomach, hence he understands Johannes’ frustrations.

Johannes also accepts that he is not a person who is good with feelings and hence he says those things to Hakan because, for him, love and affection come very naturally.

What is the story of Petronella?

Petronella is Johannes’s first child from his first wife. It has been implied that his relationship with Petronella’s mother was not good and Johannes left them after 3 years of marriage. However, he did not recognise that Petronella was actually suffering with her mother and wanted to be with him while growing up. 

She could not tell her actual feelings to anyone because she feared she would make her mother mad and she did not want to impose on Johannes’s new family. This also made her an emotionally abused person who now goes to therapy to get rid of that emotional burden. In the end, Petronella decides not to confront her father and just stay by his side without complaining.

What happens to Hanne and Darius?

Darius finally confronts Hanne and asks her why is he not enough and why she cheated on him. Hanne apologises vehemently and tells him how she was confused and made a mistake because she was indecisive and felt her freedom being taken away. But after cheating on him, she realises how much she loves Darius and wants to be with him.
