Good Boy Episode 6 Recap
The episode opens with Dong-ju regaining consciousness at the hospital, surrounded by his concerned teammates. His disoriented gaze falls solely on Han-na, the woman he had just shared a kiss with, while Jong-hyeon, watching quietly from the side, senses a subtle shift in their relationship. Though the tension between Dong-ju and Han-na is palpable, Jong-hyeon chooses to suppress his suspicions, not wanting to sour the moment. Despite his recovery, it’s clear that Dong-ju is suffering from a serious, undisclosed illness—something he deliberately hides to avoid worrying the team.
Soon, the team gathers to discuss the case of Ju-yeong. The more they investigate, the more suspicious they become of how clean his official records appear. Dong-ju suggests that Ju-yeong may have used a burner phone to cover his tracks, leading Dong-ju and Han-na to trace Ju-yeong’s last known location. Their search proves fruitful as they locate fragments of the burner phone. Ever determined, Dong-ju follows the sewage lines, managing to retrieve the phone but not without mishap, his arm becomes wedged in the sewage railing. Amused by his predicament, Han-na calls for assistance, while Jong-hyeon watches, irritated not only by Dong-ju’s clownish misfortune but also by the obvious closeness growing between him and Han-na.
Back at the forensic lab, Ju-yeong’s fingerprints are discovered on the burner phone, earning Dong-ju well-deserved praise. The team continues their analysis, while elsewhere, Mi-ja, Gyeong-gil’s mother and a maternal figure to Dong-ju, notices some neighbourhood kids erasing graffiti from the front of her shop. They explain that a police officer had threatened them for their misbehaviour—a gesture that touches Mi-ja. She sends Dong-ju a message inviting him over for dinner, bringing him quiet joy at the prospect of spending time with someone who feels like family.
The following day, Han-na’s mother unexpectedly visits the police station, bringing Dong-ju a gift to thank him for saving her daughter. Dong-ju proudly shows off the humidifier she gifted him, but his pride is short-lived when Jong-hyeon one-ups him with a far more expensive model. However, when Han-na enters, both men drop their childish competition and return to business. Later that evening, Han-na returns home to find her mother waiting for her.
Her mother reveals that someone had informed her of Han-na’s secret investigation into her late father’s death. She pleads with Han-na to abandon the investigation, fearing it will uncover the truth about how her husband died and result in the loss of their insurance payout. Disgusted by her mother’s selfishness, Han-na storms out.
As she walks away, Han-na spots a stray puppy near the grocery store. The shopkeeper remarks that the puppy seems to love sausages, which immediately reminds Han-na of Dong-ju. On a whim, she names the puppy after him and buys a pack of sausages. On her way to visit Yeon-a’s flat, she encounters Jong-hyeon, who apologises for not informing her about her mother’s earlier visit. Han-na begs him not to involve himself with her mother any further, finding it increasingly stressful. Jong-hyeon notices the sausages in her bag and silently acknowledges that Han-na and Dong-ju’s feelings for each other have grown deeper.
When Dong-ju arrives, his eyes light up at the sight of the sausages, and the trio head into the flat where Yeon-a, still pretending to have no memory of her true identity, provides them with a new lead. She mentions Bukpu Port—a name she supposedly recalls from her captivity. Han-na, however, grows increasingly suspicious of Yeon-a’s selective memory. Despite her doubts, Man-shik pushes forward with the operation, and the team heads to the port.
After a long night of surveillance, Bbong-pil arrives at dawn. The team swiftly apprehends him but quickly realises that he’s merely a drug runner, not the elusive “Drug Demon” they’re after. Nevertheless, they seize a substantial quantity of drugs, allowing Man-shik to boast about the successful bust during a press conference the next day.
As the investigation deepens, the team uncovers that TAE Corporation, led by Roh, the son of the mayor, is heavily involved in the drug smuggling operation. With Ju-yeong’s position as a customs officer, approving shipments without detection becomes effortless. The mayor’s involvement infuriates the police commissioner, who reprimands Man-shik for implicating his powerful friends.
Despite the dangerous political ties, the team strategises to bring down the real kingpin. In the midst of this, Man-shik’s daughter unexpectedly arrives and stays at the flat with Yeon-a, unaware of the danger she’s in. Meanwhile, Ju-yeong faces mounting pressure from his supervisor and the mayor for allowing the drugs to be discovered. However, when Ju-yeong visits the mayor to apologise, he violently assaults him in front of Jong-gu, revealing who truly holds the power.
Later that evening, following a team dinner, Man-shik is attacked and his service weapon is stolen. Ju-yeong uses the stolen gun to cause public panic, while Yeon-a hatches a new plan upon realising that Jeong-a remembers seeing her on the aeroplane. The team receives news that the flat is on fire and rush to the scene. Han-na confirms her growing suspicion that Yeon-a is in fact the infamous criminal they have been hunting. Fortunately, Man-shik’s daughter is found unharmed, though shaken, after Yeon-a conveniently leaves under the pretence of other business.
In a chilling meeting between Yeon-a and Ju-yeong, they discuss the possibility of using Man-shik’s daughter as leverage, but ultimately decide to shift tactics. Soon after, the police receive a parcel containing Man-shik’s stolen gun. At the same time, Dong-ju receives a call from Mi-ja’s phone, only to hear an unfamiliar voice on the line. The team races to Mi-ja’s location, finding her gravely injured from a gunshot wound. As she is rushed to hospital, Dong-ju stands paralysed with shock and grief, recalling how Mi-ja has been his rock since the tragic death of his biological mother at the hands of his abusive father.
Devastated and fuelled by rage, Dong-ju tracks Ju-yeong to the port and confronts him, delivering his signature powerful punch that sends Ju-yeong crashing to the ground. Meanwhile, Yeon-a reads a book authored by Dong-ju’s late mother, hinting that she may have orchestrated Mi-ja’s shooting to weaken Dong-ju emotionally.
The episode closes with a brief epilogue. Han-na, still flustered by the kiss she shared with Dong-ju, tries to regain her composure as he approaches her, causing her to blush once more. As she walks away, Dong-ju momentarily stumbles, fighting dizziness. Later, he receives a message from his doctor, summoning him urgently. The medical results indicate that his health condition is far more serious than he initially let on, leaving a looming sense of dread as the episode ends.
Good Boy Episode 6 Review
Dong-ju’s deepening relationship with Han-na brings warmth and sweetness amidst the tension of the ongoing investigation. Their growing affection is subtly woven through stolen glances, awkward moments, and thoughtful gestures — from Han-na naming a stray puppy after Dong-ju to Dong-ju’s tender happiness at Mi-ja’s dinner invitation. Yet, under this tenderness brews the storm of Dong-ju’s hidden illness, which quietly looms larger as the episode progresses.
Meanwhile, the stakes rise dramatically on the criminal front, as the Special Crime Team edges closer to unmasking the true Drug Demon. Ju-yeong’s ruthless display of power and Yeon-a’s dangerous manipulations keep viewers hooked, while the political web of corruption surrounding TAE Corporation and the mayor adds further intrigue. The devastating attack on Mi-ja strikes a heavy emotional chord, pushing Dong-ju towards a darker, more determined path.
