Dynamite Kiss Episode 9 Recap

Dynamite Kiss episode 9 opens with Ji-hyeok’s mother brooding over something her husband once said about divorce. The thought clearly troubles her, and she stews in it as the family prepares for the engagement ceremony. Ji-hyeok, however, is already distracted. His growing suspicion that Da-rim might actually be Jun’s biological mother leaves him unsettled, and when the moment arrives, he hesitates to exchange rings with Ha-yeong. Before he can gather himself, his mother suddenly collapses and the engagement is brought to an abrupt halt.

In the car on the way to the hospital, Ji-hyeok panics until his mother suddenly opens her eyes. He is stunned to realise she had been pretending the whole time. Calmly, she explains that she could see he did not want this engagement, so she staged the collapse to stop it. Ji-hyeok is left speechless by how far she went to protect him, yet her words only deepen his inner conflict.

Later on, Ji-hyeok’s sister eagerly wonders when they can resume the engagement. Their family is determined to bring Ha-yeong’s side into the fold, and she cannot hide her excitement. The next day, Ha-yeong visits Ji-hyeok at work. Unfortunately, Da-rim walks in on them together and feels an unexpected sting in her chest, though she tries to mask it. Things escalate when Ha-yeong casually reveals Da-rim and Seon-u’s real relationship status. Ji-hyeok is stunned to learn that Da-rim is not actually married. Feeling betrayed and confused, he retaliates in petty ways by piling endless tasks on her.

Da-rim eventually confronts him, asking why he is treating her so harshly. Ji-hyeok bluntly tells her he knows she is unmarried. The revelation leaves her shaken. Frightened of losing her job and possibly facing legal consequences, Da-rim spirals into worry. She visits her unwell mother, who speaks with such pride about Da-rim’s steady employment that Da-rim feels her heart tighten. Once she steps outside into the pouring rain, she breaks down in tears.

Ji-hyeok appears with an umbrella, silently offering comfort. Their moment is brief but charged, and it follows them to his home, where Da-rim finally confesses everything. She begs him to let her keep working until she finds a new job. Softening at last, Ji-hyeok agrees and lets her go.

Meanwhile, Seon-u learns that Ji-hyeok already knows about Da-rim’s unmarried status. Worried, he decides to be honest and confesses his feelings to her that same night. His words leave her confused and overwhelmed. At the same time, something shifts in Ji-hyeok. He starts seeing Da-rim the way he once did during their time in Jeju, and the tension between the two men grows obvious. During the interview to promote their new products, Ji-hyeok and Seon-u trade subtle yet pointed remarks, each trying to assert his presence beside Da-rim.

Later that night, after the interview wraps up, Seon-u tells Da-rim he will wait outside so they can head home together. As she returns to the office to pack her things, Ji-hyeok calls her into his cabin, deliberately keeping her from leaving with Seon-u. When he notices Seon-u calling her phone, his jealousy finally breaks through. He stops her from walking away and pulls her into a kiss.

Dynamite Kiss Episode 9 Review

The episode explores guilt, longing, and internal conflict with sharp clarity. Da-rim’s panic over being exposed, her emotional breakdown in the rain, and her quiet confession at Ji-hyeok’s home all come together to create a beautifully vulnerable turning point. The writing strikes the perfect balance between angst and tenderness, making every scene feel purposeful.

At the same time, the love triangle finally erupts. Seon-u’s confession lands with sincerity, but it is Ji-hyeok’s growing jealousy and unresolved feelings that give the episode its signature spark. The interview scene, filled with sly digs and unspoken competition, sets the stage for the final act where everything combusts. The kiss at the end is bold, desperate, and impossible to ignore. Episode 9 is dramatic, messy, and intoxicating — everything fans hoped for.
