A still from the trailer of Drishyam 2

The trailer for the mystery thriller starts off with Vijay Salgaonkar(played by Vijay Devgn) reciting a cryptic sentence related to truth and burial. It also gives a bit of context about the story, that it has been seven years since the Salgaonkar family got involved with the infamous incident.

We are further informed that the case is still open and will not be closed in their lifetime. With the burden of proof on the police department, we also know that Vijay and his family cannot be arrested on any charges. But the arrival of a new chief investigator in the town(played by Akshay Khanna), changes everything.

The new officer unearths the entire case with the intention to frame Vijay for his crime. He doesn’t shy away from using all the required measures to extract a confession from the most underrated criminal of all time. Moreover, the officer also manages to pull the local crowd’s support from the family and leaves Vijay without any hope.

The two-minute twenty-four-second clip further shows the revival of Tabu’s character. Followed by several original elements of the first part, including Vijay’s arch-nemesis, who is bound to see him behind the bars.

The trailer then ends on a cliffhanger with Vijay starting his final confession. Which almost feels like a victory for the investigation team, until the screen fades to black. Leaving us with the penultimate question- Will Vijay Salgaonkar protect his family at any cost?
