Genya doesn’t look right in Demon Slayer Season 3 Episode 6, but all that he needs to do is stay strong until they can kill all four of these demons simultaneously. Let’s see how that went in this review!
Demon Slayer Season 3 Episode 6 Overview

One of the most popular anime of our time, Demon Slayer, is back on our screens with the Swordsmith Village Arc. The newest series follows the 11-episode Season 2 of the show, which you can read all about here. The arc follows Tanjiro as he makes a trip to the swordsmith village to discover why the sword creator won’t remake his sword and meets something mysterious while there. Ufotable is the studio behind Demon Slayer’s anime adaptation, and Haruo Sotozaki will direct the series. It is to be noted that only the first episode was a double-length episode, followed by standard episodes in the future. You can read our review of the Mugen Train movie while you’re at it. The episode is also known as Kimetsu no Yaiba Katanakaji no Sato-hen Episode 6 in original Japanese.

Demon Slayer Kimetsu No Yaiba Season 3 Episode 6 Review- Aren’t You Going To Be A Hashira

It is only after you’ve watched multiple anime that are inconsistent with their output that you truly learn to appreciate how good we have it with shows like Demon Slayer. You can bet before every episode that you’ll enjoy every bit of what happens on screen, and even if you don’t or have a few complaints, you will still be able to see the vision of the people working in the background diligently to put this show out. Such consistency is to be truly lauded in this day when things can absolutely throw themselves off a cliff for absolutely no reason.

This was Ganya’s episode, which would come across as a little weird if you, like me, had forgotten he even existed before his sudden appearance in the first episode of this season. I had absolutely no idea what he was about or used to be like in the show, and a lot of the blame does fall on me for that, but the show could have also done a better job reintroducing him to the fold. Even a “remember how big of an ass you were to me back then” flashback would have helped, but all we got was just some dialogue.

Speaking of dialogue, it appears that Demon Slayer can do two kinds of dialogue well. There is the delightful and relentless positivity of Tanjiro that might sound fake coming from anyone but him, and then there is the gut-wrenching roar of pain and despair that any character can give out when they suffer a loss. The Tanjiro segment is almost always covered well and is great to witness, even though its effect has been more pronounced in this season than ever before, but Demon Slayer Season 3 Episode 6 was also a great episode for the other kind.

Demon Slayer Swordsmith Village Episode 6 featured the backstory of Genya, which did a good job of establishing the motivations that have led him to this point, although his being the way he is still needs some more exploration. We have seen a similar backstory to his done previously, as the main story that drives this show forward, Tanjiro’s, is like Genya’s. However, the added nuance of Genya’s relationship with his brother goes a long way in showing his despair. Who hasn’t said something they immediately regretted and haven’t been able to bring up since?

Demon Slayer Season 3 Episode 6 served as the halfway point of this season, as there are going to be five episodes after it, just as there were before it. So far, while this arc has felt like it has been in a rush this entire time, the events as they have unfolded have been nothing but electrifying. I can’t speak much on this episode anymore because of spoilers and because it was too similar to the episodes that came before it to come up with much new about it, but the season so far has been a fantastic time.
Verdict
Demon Slayer Season 3 Episode 6 was another great episode that features some great action, a sad backstory, Tanjiro being relentlessly positive, and some fluid animation. It couldn’t be more Demon Slayer if it tried.
