Change Days Season 2 Couples: Who Decided to Stay Together and Break Up?

Change Days (체인지데이즈) is a Korean dating reality TV series with hosts Jang Do-yeon, Code Kunst, Yang Se-chan and Heo Young-ji. Change Days season 2 has 16 episodes.

The couples featured in Change Days season 2 include  Lee Jeong-hun and Choi Hui-hyeon, Kim Tae-wan and Kim Hye-yeon, Choi Yun-seul and Min Hyo-gi, and Kim Do-hyeong and Kim Ji-yu.

Netflix describes the series as:

AT A ROMANTIC GETAWAY, REAL-LIFE COUPLES ON THE BRINK OF BREAKING UP CHOOSE BETWEEN MENDING THEIR CURRENT RELATIONSHIPS OR PURSUING NEW FLAMES.

This week, we saw Change Days season 2 come to an end, with our four couples choosing what to do about their relationships. After going through several ups and downs, dating each other and coming to learn more deeply about themselves, the series gave us a dramatic end episode which consisted of the last date between our original couples to air their grievances and help them make a decision.

By the end of it, audiences had many theories about who would end up with whom. Some didn’t shock us, while some decisions did. However, there was something very relatable and interesting about the couples’ choices and the problems they went through. Thus, when they finally did or didn’t put their rings on, we were left reeling for all of the contestants and wishing them the best to make the best choice for themselves.

We saw growth in all of the couples; some understood themselves better, which, in turn, helped uplift their relationship. On the other hand, some realised how they were treating their partners and saw their partners in a new light, which helped them come back to each other again. Unfortunately for some, that didn’t happen – they couldn’t come on the same page to figure out their issues and find their ways back to each other. It’s unfortunate, but it’s probably the best decision – it’s better to be happy separated than be unhappy together.

What Happened to the Change Days Season 2 Couples?

Lee Jeong-hun and Choi Hui-hyeon

Jeong-hun and Hui-hyeon, although a solid couple, were having issues due to his impending mandatory military service. In the last episode, we got to know that Jeong-hun was also having trouble speaking his mind and putting his needs and wants forth and was only doing what Hui-hyeon wanted. She clearly didn’t have any idea about these things, which makes sense because we’ve seen Jeong-hun as a level-headed and quiet guy.

However, although Hui-hyeon chose to be with Jeong-hun, it was his choice that was the most important because he had to choose whether he wanted his girlfriend to wait for him for 2 years or just let her go and live her life however she wanted.

Fortunately for both of them and us, he chose to be with her as well and, for once, selfishly asked her to wait for him. The audience couldn’t be happier with his choice!

Kim Tae-wan and Kim Hye-yeon

A rather explosive couple from day 1, Tae-wan’s immaturity and Hye-yeon’s selfishness were a rather interesting combination, and we couldn’t help but ask why they were together in the first place. However, you could see that both of them did love each other, although Hye-yeon made it very difficult for people to take her side.

It’s when Tae-wan finally put his foot down after several instances and conversations are when Hye-yeon changed her tune and realised that a frank conversation could go a long way, and thus the status quo was changed in their relationship. In the last few episodes, we saw her begging and pleading for him to give her a chance, and we genuinely saw her change.

Although I personally thought that the drama about the texts was a bit much, considering they have only been together for 9 months, but I guess the texts were simply the tip of the iceberg and that a lot of things came together for Tae-wan to question his relationship finally.

Just when we thought that things were going to end badly for them, Tae-wan decided to give his girlfriend one last chance since she truly was trying to make things better.

Choi Yun-seul and Min Hyo-gi

I think the basic difference between Tae-wan & Hye-yeon and Yun-seul & Hyo-gi was the fact that the former was able actually to hear each other out instead of going in circles. That’s what Yun-seul and Hyo-gi missed out on – they just never got on the same page. By the end of the show, you realise that they are very different people. Also, the fact that Hyo-gi insulted his girlfriend in front of everyone for no reason doesn’t make you want to date them.

Of course, both had their issues, and thus, in the end, they decided to break up. It’s sad, but you know why they chose what they chose.

Kim Do-hyeong and Kim Ji-yu

The most satisfying was watching Ji-yu become more confident and become more communicative and articulate her feelings. It was great, and we were all for her finding and choosing what makes her happy. Do-hyeong, meanwhile, also moved past the past deception on Ji-yu’s part and although we love her as a person, what she had in the past was pretty bad.

The conversation that they had had a few episodes ago rang true for both of them, wherein Ji-yu finally told her boyfriend that she wasn’t happy in the relationship a few years ago and his perfect memories of them together don’t coincide with hers. It was an eye-opening moment, and Jeong-hun’s influence made her more confident.

In the end, they both chose each other because, regardless of their issues, they did love each other, and when you are able to communicate effectively, most problems can be solved easily.

Are the Change Days Season 2 Couples Still Together?

We scoured their social media to get the deets, and except for Hui-hyeon, who posted the cutest pictures of her with Jeong-hun together, no one else has really mentioned their spouses on their feed. I understand Hyo-gi, but we’d love to know whether the others are happy and loving each other. Unfortunately, I guess we’ll have to wait a bit for it.

  1. I loved every couple , hyo-gu didn’t insult his girfriend just stated a fact that he realized to late that he was serving her , every couple had their ups and downs , maybe once when they are home they will make different désirions xx

    • No, he definitely talked down to her and about her. These things definitely shouldn’t be discussed with people especially when you haven’t discussed it yourself because you keep it bottled inside. It was clear that many times he was blaming her to other people when he was just as at fault. Private matter are Private. He should have been talking to her instead of just blaming her.
Even I’ve asked for advice on how to help my relationship but, never did I insult or try to make my partner of 13 years feel bad or look bad. I would never and that is what Hyo-Gi did to his partner even after she said it was private and not okay and that she didn’t like it… he still did those things and didn’t care that it hurt her. That’s not love.

  2. I wish Tae-Wan would have broken up with his girlfriend. For some reason she didnt seem warm & didnt really show true affection 2 him. She seemed cold & seems to need alot of male attention . I feel 4 him. I hope he finds happiness in this relationship. I wonder.

  3. I feel none of the couples showed much affection for each other. Even when the chose to stay together, no holding hands or hugging.
Maybe it’s a cultural way in Korea, I wanted them to be more excited..
