Fortunately. it won’t be a “silent night” when David Harbour’s dawn as the new Santa Claus commences but a bloody red Violent Night as he comes up with his own naughty list and drops bodies all night long. Coming up this Christmas is a brand new holiday action-comedy flick from 87North’s Kelly McCormick David Leitch and Guy Danella, the producers of the previously established saga of action movies like John Wick, Atomic Blonde, Deadpool 2, Bullet Train, and more.
Leading with the tagline, “To hell with ‘all is calm'”, the movie is also joined by John Leguizamo, Cam Gigandet, Alex Hassell, Alexis Louder, and more, while it’s directed by Norwegian director Tommy Wirkola.

Universal Pictures describes the movie as:
When a team of mercenaries breaks into a wealthy family compound on Christmas Eve, taking everyone inside hostage, the team isn’t prepared for a surprise combatant: Santa Claus (David Harbour) is on the grounds, and he’s about to show why this Nick is no saint.
Universal Pictures finally brings us a merry hour of joy with this movie as it promises to be different than other Santa Claus movies made earlier. It’s not a mere parody or just another regular family film, it’s hardcore action-packed sequences one after the other with a twist of dark comedy with Harbour in the lead.
Violent Night Trailer Breakdown
Chugging his huge glass of milk, Santa Claus (David Harbour) sits beside a man cosplaying Santa Claus in a bar. While the other old man mistakes him to be just another cosplayer like him, Harbour on the other hand claims that “he started the whole thing”. Ho Ho Ho-ing his way through the night, Santa marks the coming of Christmas.
A wealthy-happy family is ready to celebrate the beloved holiday as the father holds out a unique early present for his daughter – “a direct hotline to Santa Claus himself”. Soon a team of mercenaries breaks into their house, and their leader wants the $300 million dollars in their personal vault as his present this Christmas.

Sliding down the chimney, Santa makes his way to the house as one of the mercenaries attacks him but Santa knows his way around with a couple of kicks and punches. He rains down on their parade, and as you can see “he’s not your typical mall Santa”. The young girl. Trudy Lightstone tries to reach out to him via the direct hotline as he’s busy beating up the bad guys.
Listening to her call, Santa pulls out his magical parchment and checks that she’s on his “Nice” list, and answers her call. One by one, he takes them all down and season’s greetings become “season’s beatings”. The leader does eventually catch hold of him and ties him up using Christmas lights but, well, Santa has some tricks up his sleeve and escapes through the chimney while the bad guys stay behind arguing if Santa Claus is real or not.

Once again, pulling out the magical parchment that looks like an enchanted tab, he confirms that they’re all on his “Naughty List” and doesn’t let them off the hook easily. Trudy asks him how he punishes the “Naughty” ones, to which Santa replies, ” I give them a lump of coal”, which also explodes, taking them out, and Santa feels obligated to watch the bang.
No matter what anyone says, Trudy believes in Santa with all her heart, and he’s “coming to town” to save everyone who deserves to be saved while taking out the rest. Also, did I forget? Santa expects his reindeer to be extremely professional.
