Shows Like Jack Ryan Season 4: Jack Ryan Season 4 is knocking on the door. And this time he will be taking on corruption at ground zero i.e. CIA. The theory that a Mexican Cartel is about to shake hands with a terrorist organization, a deal that apparently goes through Washington D.C., is something that Jack has to get to the bottom of before it’s too late. Are you excited about it? If you are, then I present to you this list.
The reason why I like this show and the following shows is due to the diplomacy and politics that they bring to the table along with action and espionage. Diplomacy and politics are what add gravity to the shows and what have made them the best in the political thriller and the thriller genre in general. So if you are looking forward to the final instalment of the original Amazon Prime Video thriller show, this list will come in handy.
5 Shows Like Jack Ryan Season 4
Bodyguard
Netflix’s Bodyguard became a hit when it hit the OTT platform. Like the Prime Video series, it is a six-episode miniseries that stars Richard Madden as David Budd who serves as the controversial British Home Secretary Julia Montague. David suffers from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder which is visible at times, but when duty calls, his ability to handle stress is top-notch. He is one of the most aware persons you will ever know. But in his way are politics, conflicts of interest, conspiracy, and threat. Naturally, Bodyguard deserves to be the first on this list.
Reacher
Not a political thriller but a thriller all the same, Amazon Prime Video’s Reacher tells the story of Jack Reacher, a US veteran investigator, played by Alan Ritchson, who is wrongfully arrested for murder in Margrave, Georgia. He has to figure his way out of his cell but before leaving, he has to bring out the truth behind the conspiracy that Margrave is facing. Some might prefer Tom Cruise to Alan but it’s not just the character that makes a series good. It’s the story. And if you liked the storyline of Jack Ryan, you wouldn’t dislike this one either.

The Recruit
I was blown away by Netflix’s The Recruit. Noah Centineo’s Owen Hendricks has been newly recruited by the CIA as a lawyer. But things go haywire when in the very first week of his joining, he comes across a letter in which a former asset-cum-criminal named Max Meladze (played brilliantly by Laura Haddock) threatens to expose the agency and its relationship with her. She now sits in a prison in Phoenix. As Owen digs deeper, he comes across cross-border conflicts and conspiracies that almost kill him. This show is easily at par with the John Krasinski starrer.
P.S.- I have the theme as my ringtone. It’s so cool.
Treason
Charlie Cox has already proved his acting skills as a spy in Daredevil. So when Treason was announced, I knew he would pull it off smoothly. But what I found in the 5-episode season was more than what I had expected. When MI6 chief Martin Angelis is poised and incapacitated, Cox’s character deputy chief MI6 Adam Lawrence is made the acting chief. As he starts digging into the case, his past returns to haunt him including his former lover Kara, a Russian spy. Just watch it, you’ll love it.
The Night Agent
A Netflix political thriller, The Night Agent shows how deep conspiracies can go within an organization, in this case, the FBI. Junior-level agent Peter Sutherland’s job as an agent is “waiting for Godot”. In other words, he sits in a room with a Night Action phone in front of him, waiting for a call that has never come and has no chance of coming either. Until he receives a call from a woman named Rose Larkin whose aunt and uncle have been killed. Before he can realize it, he is thrown into a world of chaos and complex conspiracy of the highest level, the Oval Office level, and beyond. This is a worthy addition to this list.
Amazon Prime Video’s last season of the show based on the fiction Ryanverse created by Tom Clancy stars John Krasinski, Wendell Pierce (Greer), Michael Kelly (Mike November), Betty Gabriel (Elizabeth Wright), and Abbie Cornish (Cathy Mueller). The first two episodes will be released on June 30.
