Walking on Thin Ice Episode 8 Recap

The episode opens with viewers getting a breakdown of Tae-gu as a person, while we also learn that Mi-yeon is addicted to Eun-soo’s drugs. The evening she passed out, it happened because of the side effects of the drugs and not because Eun-soo hit her! Meanwhile, Gyeong-do asks Gyu-man about Money Bug’s real identity while Kyeong confronts Tae-gu, who boldly asks him to send him 100 million won weekly for keeping his mouth shut.

Eun-soo, meanwhile, is going through her own issues as she has completely forgotten about getting her husband from the hospital, and now Yeo-ju has taken over her role in the family as she can only look on. Either way, she goes to meet Mi-yeon in the hospital and assures her that she will take care of the evidence on her phone, but Mi-yeon continues to be frustratingly obtuse and insults her further. On the other hand, Kyeong meets Hwa-rim, who is also in the hospital, and tries to expand his clientele and make more money, but the idea falls through.

Without a way out, Eun-soo meets Kyeong to try to come up with a plan and wonders whether they should stop the business. However, Kyeong, instructed by Tae-gu to keep Eun-soo around and frame her in the end, diverts her attention from believing that the mole is a cop and instructs her to find another customer to pay the 100 million won per week. The two fight when she refuses to go along with the ruse, and he forces her to listen to him or face the consequences.

Kyeong later tells Tae-gu about Mi-yeon and Gyeong-do’s investigation, and the detective attempts to control his subordinate while Eun-soo repackages the drugs after the police expose the highlighters. Elsewhere, Kyeong and Hyeok meet Austin and discuss plans to take over Tuen Holdings after learning the nitty-gritty information from Hwa-rim. Although it seems like Austin won’t take the bet, the idea of making money or becoming the biggest shareholder is too juicy to ignore. As the meeting takes place, Eun-soo is there to take pictures of the three, realising that there’s more taking place in the background.

Eun-soo eventually starts to follow Kyeong, learning more about his plans and his focus on Hwa-rim. However, as a result of her pursuits, she is fired from her job. Meanwhile, Tae-gu learns that his ex-wife is attempting to take his son abroad and rushes to find a way to discuss custody, while Kyeong, having dinner with his estranged parents, realises that some relationships can’t be mended after his mother becomes irate at the thought of him killing someone in the past.

With their personal lives destroyed, Tae-gu blackmails Kyeong for even more money, which puts his own plans on a damper. He demands that Eun-soo handle the increased payments, and this pushes her over the edge. She gets all of her stuff from the store and then reaches out to Hwi-rim. In the end, Tae-gu is investigated by the Prosecutor’s Office and Tae-gu, of course, thinks that it’s Kyeong’s fault. However, it’s Eun-soo who is holding on to all the strings this time.

Walking on Thin Ice Episode 8: Park Yong-woo

What a shocking turn of events this season as things go from bad to worse very, VERY quickly! Eun-soo shows some real guts this episode; that’s not something that we usually see, and I am glad that we see something different this time around. Kyeong and Tae-gu’s backstories come to light as well, and I am invested in knowing more, although it seems like Tae-gu is simply a bad guy all around. In the end, I am left on the edge of my seat and impatient to see what awaits in the next episode. Walking on Thin Ice has turned out to be a very interesting season and maybe one of the best thrillers of the year!
