The Witcher Blood Origin Ending Explained

What is the Conjunction of Spheres?

High Mage Balor goes rogue after sacrificing his beloved apprentice and gaining the hold over Chaos Magic. Syndril urges his sister Zacare to bind him with Balor in the end so that he can use the same power against him to defeat him. Balor was using the prime Monolith, a towering structure to channel his power into other dimensions in order to control them all. Syndril later destroys this construct and lays down his life while fighting against Balor.

Although they think that the deed is done and that they’ve succeeded, once the Monolith is destroyed, the other dimensions that had had been linked through the strong energy together starts converging and collide into the same space-time. Due to this, creatures and beings from all these various worlds are pushed to the Continent, the setting of the Witcherverse. This also becomes the first time elves come in contact with human beings, thus risking the future of the elf kind with their as has also found representation in the main series, wherein numerous rebelling creatures are fighting off the imperial urges of the human tyrants.

Did Scian Betray the Rest?

Although it does seem like that because Scian is desperate to retrieve the Soulreaver, the last remaining sword of the Ghost tribe and offers Merwyn the chance to reconnect with Fjall by handing him over as a captive. However, it was her plan all along to play Merwyn. She never crossed a foot against Eile and the others and was merely using Merwyn’s weakness as her advantage.

In the meantime, as her heavily armoured soldiers head out to capture him and attack the rest of The Seven, the sellswords leader joins them and the entire army is ambushed. They take their armour and weapons, disguising themselves as Merwyn’s soldier and find an easy way into the Golden Empire. Scian’s trust is later betrayed by Merwyn as she doesn’t hold her end of the bargain and keeps the sword to herself, and captures Scian instead. However, she knows her way with the soldiers and eventually takes back what rightfully belonged to her clan.

Who Harnessed the Powers of the First Witcher Prototype and What Happens to It in the End?

Eile had initially planned to take the plunge but Fjall couldn’t agree with it since he saw how she became a symbol of hope for the people. They both bicker about the matter but ultimately when Eile is still asleep, Fjall goes ahead for the procedure and Syndril and his sister Zacaré give him the magic potion to connect his conscience with the beast they’d slain earlier and create the first Witcher prototype.

In the end, he loses control after his fight with the Empire’s monster. He succeeds in annihilating it, but it consumes a piece of his soul in the process. As he went dark, he ended up killing the sellswords leader and his ripping out own comrade, Callan’s eye. Eile is left with no choice but to stab him before he kills more people of the team.

What Did the Prophecy Say About Eile’s Child?

After her pregnancy, Eile lets Ithlinne touch her stomach to tell the fortune of what’s to come for her offsprings, and all it does is leave us with an even shadier response. Since the child is a result of both – hope represented by Eile and mayhem and chaos represented by Fjall’s eventual deadly transformation, its future is also shaded with similar possibilities.

The prophecy clearly states the following about Eile’s children: “The Lark’s seed shall carry forth the first note of a song that ends all times. And one of her blood shall sing the last”.

What Happened to Eredin?

Balor sent Eredin and his army through a portal while making the ultimate sacrifice to gain his dark powers. While his character received a brief redemption arc as the High Commander when he turns to Merwyn’s aid for the coup. However, in the last episode of the series, after the conjunction has taken place, he’s located with his soldiers in a different realm where he pulls out a skeleton mask from the sand. Putting it on begins his possible evil origin as the leader of the Wild Hunt, a realm that will stay trapped in for quite some time. This same dusty red planet he’s now stuck in was also seen in The Witcher Season 2.

What Does The Witcher Blood Origin Post Credits Scene Mean?

After the conjunction of spheres has happened, Blood Origin rolls out its post credits scene, taking us back to the premise of the very first episode of The Witcher. In this scene, Avallac’h looks at some children playing in the street with a monolith in his hand, having discovered its potency to send them back and forth in time as well. Having jumped 1200 years ahead into the future, he spots Ciri among these children and she turns around to find him hiding in the distance, just like she did in the first season, but we never got a look at the person she turned around to see.

With the prophecy just having shook the foundations of the storyline, this could be a direct implication to Ciri being one of Fjall and Eile’s descendants. So, what is Avallac’h’s role in it all? He may be trying to help out Ciri in the future, especially since he has all the knowledge of the past happenings. The prophecy itself can tip either way – destroy or save the world – Avallac’h was instrumental in the prequel, even if not so much for Merwyn herself, but his ties with the past and his discovery of time travel can aid him, as well as Ciri and Geralt in the near future, hopefully for the better of the world.

Will There Be The Witcher Blood Origin Season 2?

Serving its purpose as a prequel to the original Witcherverse first introduced by Netflix with Henry Cavill, Blood Origin merely tells a tale set 1200 years prior to him popping up on the map. It was always meant to be a ‘limited series’ and Netflix displays the same on the series’ page as well. Therefore, Blood Origin won’t be returning for another season, but it has clear repercussions in the present-day lore and its characters can crossover to the scene anytime.

Now that all those involved in firing up the first Witcher prototype are known to the audience, this also gives the original show to make allusions to their names and actions. Moreover, the cryptic prophecy at the end of the season is also bound to leave an impact sooner or later especially since Avallac’h had even discovered the monolith’s power allowing them to travel in time in addition to jumping between worlds.

The Witcher Blood Origin is now streaming on Netflix.
