The Takeover Trailer Breakdown: Trojan Horse, Criminal Syndicate and a Race Against Time

The trailer for the new Netflix thriller The Takeover explores the events inside the life of an ethical hacker. Who finds herself amidst a criminal spotlight after interfering in the matters of a dangerous syndicate. Moreover, it promises to be a fast pace cyber-thriller with a running time of one hour and twenty-seven minutes.

The film has a star cast of Holly Mae Brood, Geza Weisz, Frank Lammers, and Susan Radder and is directed by Annemarie van de Mond. Furthermore, the hacking thriller is written by Hans Erik Kraan and Tijs Van Marle.

With the premise of a hacker on the run, the trailer starts with a normal day in the life of the protagonist Mel Bandison. She is an ethical hacker who is at the top of his game and knows her job inside out. One day, Mel spots a breach of data in high technology self-driving bus and immediately neutralizes it.

However, this creates a snowball effect and Mel gets engulfed in a criminal network whose operations are hampered by the stoppage. The crime network finds out that Mel was behind the ethical hacking, and goes all out to eliminate her. They even frame Mel by superimposing her image on a deep fake video, leading to a cat-and-mouse chase.

Mel realizes that she cannot prove herself innocent and hide from the killer without any assistance. This is why she takes help from one of her blind dates and an old acquaintance. Moreover, Mel and her former blind date are both wanted by the agents of Interpol.

The high point in the trailer comes when it is revealed that the criminal syndicate cannot kill Mel. She has an encryption key, without which the operations won’t be resumed and possess a risk of getting exposed. Moreover, she uses this as an advantage to steal some time from the chase.

However, it doesn’t mean that the risk factor is reduced. Eventually, the bad guys will go to any extent to get what they want. Even if it means taking other lives.

The trailer then shifts to a series of montages where Mel can be seen facing the heat of the criminals. Furthermore, the official footage also reveals that it is not only the criminals but also many inside agents, that were involved in the large coverup. This makes the thriller more intriguing and cutting-edge.

The trailer has many action-filled moments followed by an enthralling car-crashing sequence. Ultimately, the trailer keeps the drape over most of the plot and adds an element of suspense to this hacking-based adventure thriller.

We don’t know whether Mel will be able to expose the syndicate and prove her innocence, but all in all the trailer sets high expectations for the upcoming film.
