The Survivors Ending Explained
The series starts with Kieran, his girlfriend Mia and their daughter coming back home to meet his father. There’s a tension in the air as everyone looks at Kieran with a hint of anger, blaming him for the deaths of two of his friends. As they go to a bar, new girl Bronte takes an interest in them and asks Mia for a quick chat about her friend Gabby, who also died on the night of the storm. That night, Kieran is harassed at the bar and gets flashbacks of his mother blaming him for the tragedy 15 years ago.
The next morning, they get the news that Bronte has died. An investigation is immediately underway, and Liam is the first suspect, having dropped Bronte home the night of the murder. Other than him, Brian, Kieran’s father, is also questioned since he was walking on the beach that night, but since he’s suffering from a memory disorder, the police don’t look into him further. Along with Bronte, the series also looks into Gabby’s death 15 years ago, which has remained unsolved till now.
The police eventually find a DNA match and arrest Brian after they also find Bronte’s camera in their shed. With things going haywire, Liv tells Kieran that she has Bronte’s phone, and he implores her to hand it in to help his dad. However, she refuses. Kieran, later on, opens up about the night that Finn and Toby died, and tells Mia that Liv, who was also with him during the storm, was the one who called the two, not him. Later, Mia finds an odd photo of Gabby in George Barlin’s things and learns that Bronte might have had a crush on him.
When she goes home, she realises that Gabby was in the boat with Finn and Toby. Meanwhile, Brian tells Kieran that he was trying to save Bronte the night that she died, and that’s why his DNA was on her.
What Happened to Bronte? Is Gabby’s Death Related to Her?
Mia is unable to shake the feeling that Gabby was involved with Finn and Toby, who could’ve done something to her. She takes this information to Trish, who takes it to Geoff Mallott. With a strand of evidence in front of him, he finally opens up to knowing something and sitting on it. He confessed to seeing Gabby’s backpack inside the dry locker of the boat, and he threw it in the water, knowing that it would eventually wash up. Geoff tells her that Gabby died with Finn and Toby while trying to save Kieran.
Trish blows up at the memorial game that afternoon and tells the truth in front of everyone. Eventually, Trish and Verity have a falling out and things get ruined. Afterwards, Ash finally confesses to being at the hostel that night instead of with Sean and having an affair with a tourist. Liv, of course, breaks up with him. Eventually, Mia, too, decides to leave Kieran at home and get some space.
Eventually, Chris Renn finds a video of Bronte and Julian Gilroy fighting in one of the security cameras.
In The Survivors episode 6, the police decide to search Julian’s home, but in the meantime, find Bronte’s stalker, George.. He’s brought in for questioning but he’s cleared after his alibi checks out, while Mia sends Kieran the photo of Gabby’s name etched in the stone of the north caves. Kieran and Sean go up to look, and when Mia tells Verity about them, she questions Julien why he was so sure that Gabby wasn’t on the boat.

And that’s when it comes out – Gabby was with Sean on the night of the storm in the caves. However, he lost her in a fit of rage after she refused his advances. Eventually, Kieran realises that Sean got his torch back from Bronte… but when would he have had time to do that? He finally tells Kieran that he killed him when he realised that she had found out about Gabby. Meanwhile, the police figure it out as well they all go to the caves to find and arrest him.
In the end, justice is served, and Sean is charged with murder.
Why Did Sean Kill the Women?
Sean was bullied by his peers, which made him feel small in his eyes. Well, that’s what he said. It’s mainly because he couldn’t take no from women.
