The Snow Girl Season 2: Has Netflix Renewed the Spanish Crime Thriller? Will Milena Smit Return?

The Snow Girl, aka La chica de nieve, is currently one of the most talked about shows. The Spanish crime thriller was released on Netflix on January 27. Directed by David Ulloa and Laura Alvea, the series stars Milena Smit as Miren Rojo, Aixa Villagrán as Belén Millán, José Coronado as Eduardo and others.

Netflix’s The Snow Girl Short Summary

In the series, a 5-year-old named Amaya girl goes missing during a festive parade in Málaga. Her parents have no clue as they receive no threats or ransom calls. Journalist Miren and cop Belén work on the case simultaneously to find who kidnapped Amaya.

The series has 6 episodes of approximately 45 minutes. There are multiple time jumps between 2010, 2016 and 2019. Every time jump, the kidnapper sends a video of Amaya to Miren. So it is established that Amaya is alive. However, there is no other clue about the kidnapper, and the cops have failed to make any progress in the case for many years.

The series also focuses on Miren’s past along with Amaya’s disappearance. Miren was physically abused, and the trauma is still there. Hence, her concern for Amaya makes her extremely dedicated to finding answers. She doesn’t want Amaya to be in the same situation as her. In the last 2 episodes, we find out what happened to Amaya, who kidnapped her, and why.

The Snow Girl 1

Who kidnapped Amaya in The Snow Girl?

In the last two episodes, we learn that Iris and Santiago, a couple living away from the city, kidnapped Amaya during the parade in 2010. The couple has been trying hard to have a child. So seeing a lost Amaya in the parade made them act selfish, and they kidnapped her. They even changed her name to Julia and made sure she didn’t step out and forget her childhood completely with new memories.

Amaya or Julia grows up thinking Iris and Santiago are her parents. With thorough investigation and presence of mind, Miren gets closer to finding the truth. Without giving away much, we would like to inform you that Miren succeeds in saving Amaya and helping her reunite with her parents.

The Snow Girl 2

Is The Snow Girl Renewed for Season 2?

Miren writes everything about the case in a book called The Snow Girl. Her senior Eduardo has been a great help throughout. In the last episode, during her book launch, she receives a package with a picture. In the pic, a woman is tied, her mouth is gagged with cloth, and it mentions the date 2012. The picture and the ending hints at another possible season.

So far, makers have yet to confirm whether The Snow Girl Season 2 is happening. But the cliffhanger ending is a big tease. So we will have to wait for the makers to make an official announcement. Until then, we can only hope the ending is the beginning of a new story, and we will see Miren in action again. If a new season is made, with the case in the photo being the main plot, we might get to see Milena Smit again.
