The Pale Blue Eye Plot/Storyline
Retirement means nothing when you’re the best at your game, and people come knocking at your door for assistance. Augustus Landor (Bale) is no stranger to such a scenario as the the veteran detective is pulled back into a puzzling series of murder mysteries. Netflix’s official synopsis of the movie states, “A retired detective recruits an astute West Point cadet named Edgar Allan Poe to help him solve a grisly murder mystery at the U.S. Military Academy.”

Set in 1830, West Point, an era even before Sherlock Holmes walked the roads, the overtired Landor must look into the murder of a cadet without drawing much attention. As a means to propel his investigation further, he enrols a fellow cadet, who’s consumed by his own poetic ways, the one and the only, Edgar Allan Poe (Melling).
